General Superintendent – Industrial Construction

Location: Catawba County, NC


About Our Client

Our client is a family-owned general contractor serving the Carolinas with a reputation for integrity, quality workmanship, and hands-on project leadership. They specialize in commercial, industrial, manufacturing, healthcare, and institutional construction projects throughout the Carolinas.

Position Summary

Our client is seeking an experienced General Superintendent – Industrial Construction to lead field operations on large-scale industrial and manufacturing construction projects. This individual will oversee all aspects of jobsite execution, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and in alignment with their commitment to quality and client satisfaction.

The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive industrial construction experience, and the ability to manage multiple subcontractors, schedules, and field teams on complex projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee all on-site construction activities for large industrial and manufacturing projects
  • Coordinate and supervise superintendents, subcontractors, field personnel, and vendors
  • Develop and maintain project schedules in collaboration with project management teams
  • Ensure all work is completed in compliance with project plans, specifications, safety regulations, and quality standards
  • Conduct daily jobsite planning meetings and safety briefings
  • Monitor manpower, productivity, equipment usage, and construction progress
  • Identify and proactively resolve field issues, conflicts, and schedule impacts
  • Maintain strong communication with owners, engineers, architects, inspectors, and project stakeholders
  • Enforce OSHA regulations and safety policies
  • Assist with project planning, logistics coordination, and sequencing of work activities
  • Review and coordinate subcontractor performance and site logistics
  • Support mentoring and development of assistant superintendents and field staff

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in industrial or commercial construction supervision
  • Proven experience managing large-scale industrial, manufacturing, warehouse, or heavy commercial construction projects
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, scheduling, site logistics, and safety standards
  • Demonstrated leadership ability with experience managing large field teams and subcontractors
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction documents
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with construction scheduling software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred
  • Valid driver’s license required

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with tilt-wall, structural steel, concrete, and industrial facility construction
  • Background working on occupied industrial campuses or active manufacturing environments
  • Experience with design-build and negotiated project delivery methods
  • Familiarity with Procore, Microsoft Project, or similar construction management software
