Job description

The Manufacturing Operations Manager is responsible for leading and directing Manufacturing strategies to support achievement of NVR's Brand Promise and focus on vertical integration. This position will ensure alignment of support to Homebuilding Operations related to capacity planning, logistics, and quality assurance. The incumbent will partner with Homebuilding Operations, Architectural Services, IT, Finance, and senior Manufacturing leadership to ensure business objectives are achieved. This position will lead a team responsible for leading and influencing best practices across all Manufacturing plants.
This role is located in our Thurmont, MD plant.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Establish and implement strategies to measure, forecast, and adjust plant capacity across all Manufacturing Plants, for weekly Homebuilding requirements and future capacity growth.
  • Partner with senior leadership in Homebuilding and Manufacturing to establish and monitor key metrics and drive performance in all plants related to Scheduling, Logistics, and Quality.
  • Develop and oversee the execution of a safe and cost-effective logistics strategy, designed to meet Homebuilding delivery needs, scale with business growth, and reduce risk to the company. Manage elevated situations or strategy adjustments with third-party haulers, Procurement, and senior Manufacturing leadership.
  • Oversee the Manufacturing Quality Program focused on continuous improvement of manufacturing-related processes and alignment among all Manufacturing Plants. Address elevated quality issues with Homebuilding leadership and ensure the Quality Operations team works with the plants on root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Regularly assess current business operations and identify needs for process or technology improvements related to Manufacturing's support of the Brand Promise. Interface with ITD, Homebuilding Operations, and Manufacturing leadership to ensure sustainability and improvement in Building Products support to Homebuilding Operations.
  • Lead the justification, development, and roll out of vertical integration opportunities to maintain NVR's competitive advantage.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to a team of direct reports as well as cross-functionally to areas of influence throughout the plants.
  • Guide and support leadership in new plants during the start-up phase, with best practices, training, and other resources.
  • Manage special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required (Business or Engineering preferred)
  • MBA preferred
  • Minimum 7 years' leadership experience with a demonstrated track record of achieving results and developing teams, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with P&L ownership, budget management, or cost control is strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated expertise communicating effectively with all levels of an organization and a strong customer focused perspective
  • Proven ability todrive organizational improvements and coach others to achieve performance goals
  • Demonstrated proficiency in prioritizing, decision-making, adapting,and managing multiple deadlines
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, collaboration, and conflict management skills
  • Ability to travel to other NVR plants and locations, as needed
