Job description

Eaton's ES AMER ARS division is currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Manager. This role will take place at our facility in Williamsburg, VA. We are able to offer relocation assistance for qualified candidates within the United States.
The Manufacturing Engineer Manager- Robotics & Fabrication will lead the program management, design, deployment, and optimization of automated manufacturing processes with a strong focus on robotics, advanced fabrication, and industrial automation. This role partners closely with production, engineering, quality, and maintenance teams to elevate manufacturing capability, improve process reliability, and drive continuous improvement across the facility.
The ideal candidate is hands-on, innovative, and experienced in robotic integration, machining, metal fabrication, and complex manufacturing system design.
The expected annual salary range for this role is $97000 - $143000 a year.

What you'll do:
Robotics & Automation
  • Design, program, and implement robotic systems (e.g., FANUC, ABB, KUKA, UR) for welding, material handling, assembly, inspection, or custom applications.
  • Develop and optimize robot paths, end of arm tooling (EOAT), work cells, safety systems, and control logic.
  • Troubleshoot robotic issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  • Evaluate and integrate automation technologies such as cobots, vision systems, sensors, and automated fixtures.

Fabrication Engineering
  • Create and improve fabrication processes including welding, cutting, machining, bending, forming, and additive manufacturing as applicable.
  • Develop jigs, fixtures, and tooling to improve precision, throughput, and operator ergonomics.
  • Collaborate with design engineering to ensure manufacturability (DFM/DFA) of new and existing products.
  • Support prototype builds and transition designs into scalable production processes.

Process Development & Optimization
  • Analyze manufacturing workflows and identify opportunities for efficiency, cost reduction, and quality improvement.
  • Utilize Lean, Six Sigma, and statistical analysis tools to optimize cycle time, reduce waste, and enhance process capability.
  • Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and training materials.
    Equipment, Safety & Quality
  • Specify, justify, procure, and commission new manufacturing equipment and automation systems.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards (OSHA, ANSI, RIA, ISO 10218, etc.) in robotic cell design and fabrication processes.
  • Collaborate with quality engineering to define inspection criteria, perform PFMEAs, and ensure consistent product quality.

Supervision
  • Manage Manufacturing Engineering Tech positions

Qualifications:
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • 5+ years Manufacturing Engineering specializing in fabrication.

Preferred Qualifications:
