Position Description

Black Bear Talent seeking a motivated and hands on Manufacturing Engineer to join our clients team. This role is responsible for designing, improving, and supporting manufacturing processes, equipment, and production systems to maximize efficiency, quality, and safety. The ideal candidate will possess strong problem solving skills, a continuous improvement mindset, and the ability to collaborate effectively across production, maintenance, and engineering teams to drive operational excellence. This position is a direct hire opportunity.

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Design and modify production equipment, tools, and layouts to improve efficiency and support evolving manufacturing needs.
  • Create and maintain detailed work instructions and manufacturing documentation to ensure consistent and optimized production processes.
  • Lead the design, installation and troubleshooting of new and existing manufacturing equipment to enhance quality, throughput, and reliability.
  • Provide hands-on support to the production floor, addressing equipment or process issues quickly to minimize downtime and maintain output.
  • Issue RFQs, negotiate pricing and lead times, collaborate with contractors and vendors for equipment design, sourcing, and implementation.
  • Identify and analyze inefficiencies and recommend improvements to reduce waste and enhance operational performance.
  • Investigate production challenges, identify root causes, implement solutions to improve product quality and process reliability.
  • Ensure equipment and processes comply with all applicable local, state, federal, and insurance regulations while promoting a safe and healthy workplace.
  • Collaborate with maintenance, production, and engineering teams to coordinate equipment needs, schedule downtime, and gather input for continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Education & Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering or a related field (Required).
  • 2-4 years of related job experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic troubleshooting ability.
  • Analytical Problem Solving/Analysis abilities.
  • Communicate proficiently using verbal and written methods.
  • Proficient with SolidWorks, AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Highly motivated and willing to take the Initiative to get tasks done.
  • Basic understanding of Lean Manufacturing and process improvement techniques.
  • Hands-on problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with cross-functional teams.
