We are a mission partner supporting DoD, Intelligence Community, and Civil space customers. We develop complex, radiation effects mitigated, designs that balance competing requirements in modern space programs, delivering cutting-edge solutions that enable our customers to achieve more in space.

Position Summary

We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer that will work within our production team to support the build and delivery of Space Flight products for the Space Electronic Systems sector.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides engineering process support to the manufacturing of electromechanical assemblies for military and space applications, driving defect reduction, root cause activities, and daily interaction with technicians and operators.
  • Conduct various data analysis for capacity, throughput, and other relevant performance indicators.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements, lean manufacturing techniques, and process flows to execute both production and development programs.
  • Work with staff to ensure bench setups/layouts satisfy productivity demands, safety/ergonomics, and applicable employee suggestions.
  • Creates detailed work instructions from engineering drawings for technicians to assemble, test, and inspect products accurately and repeatably.
  • Generate, investigate, and document non-conformances as required. Recommend disposition and supply rework instructions, if necessary.
  • Review new designs for manufacturability. Ensure design compliance with standards and procedures to provide a consistent manufacturing process.
  • Support Material Review Board (MRB)/Failure Review Board (FRB) for the disposition of discrepant material/test failures and determination of root cause/corrective action. Ensure timely disposition of discrepant materials and other corrections.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering or related field OR equivalent experience/combined education.
  • 4+ years of related experience with a bachelorโ€™s degree OR 2+ years with a graduate degree (8 years of related experience can be considered in lieu of a bachelorโ€™s degree).


Preferred Qualifications

  • Manufacturing Engineering experience
  • Experience in regulated/controlled electronic or mechanical manufacturing environment.
  • Similar experience working under an ISO 9000 or AS9100 quality system.
  • Root cause and corrective action methodology knowledge and experience.
  • CAD/Solidworks experience.
  • Experience with Configuration Management processes.
  • Able to manage multiple projects and deadlines, ensuring schedules are defined and met.
  • Ability to communicate with varying levels of technical expertise to ensure requirements are clear and met.
  • Technical writing and presentation skills.
  • Lean/Six Sigma training.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Occasionally lifting up 25lbs exertion. Standing or sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Repetitive Motion: Constantly operates computers and other office productivity machinery. May occasionally operate manufacturing equipment.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • ESD production environment. Some exposure to machine noise; hearing protection may be required.
  • Must have availability to work 1st, 2nd and 3rd shifts as scheduled.
  • Work hours could vary and weekends may be requested to fulfill needs.
  • Primarily located in Chantilly with flexibility to occasionally work in Fairfax or Sterling.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $73,000 - $135,000
