PLANT CONTROLLER
JOB SUMMARY:
The Plant Controller is a valuable member of the plant's Leadership Team and has full P&L responsibility for the facility. Plays an active role in developing, monitoring, and achieving the operations annual goals and objectives. Provides financial, analytical, and decision-making leadership to the local team members, while maintaining an ongoing relationship with the overall direction of the company. This person needs to thrive in a team environment and spending time on the plant floor to remain in touch with the daily operations and the ever-changing atmosphere. Operates with the outmost integrity, honesty, attention to detail, and organizational skills, while maintaining a positive attitude and a great work ethic.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Overall financial responsibility for the operations and all other related activities at the plant, while holding the local team accountable to the results.
  • Monthly financial reporting and financial analysis to the Process Council.
  • Update and track plant dashboards.
  • Daily, weekly, and monthly financial reporting to the local team as well as to the Corporate office
  • Prepare annual budgets, monthly/weekly forecasts and analyze variances to each on a month to month basis.
  • Manage all A/P, A/R, production and non-production purchasing, and payroll.
  • Monitor and manage all aspects of the plant's perpetual inventories to ensure no shortages occur.
  • Lead the monthly physical inventories.
  • Monitor Engineering Changes to ensure no negative financial issues result from the change.
  • Report financial progress to the local team as well as the Corporate Team through monthly management reviews.
  • Prepare weekly forecast of prior week's results and possible future events that veer from the last forecast or budget, recommend mitigating actions.
  • Complete knowledge of the operation at the facility and consistently offering suggestions for improvement
  • Monitor the plant spending to ensure that the facility is acting fiscally responsible.
  • Monthly deliverables to both the local team and the Corporate Team:
    • Complete report out of monthly results.
    • Complete analysis of variances to both monthly forecasts and annual budgets.
    • Monthly forecasts and analysis to budget and prior month forecasts.
    • Updated monthly balance sheet activity.
    • Complete breakdown of accounts receivable position.
  • Day to day accounting functions.
  • All other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Experience: 10+ years' of general accounting experience with very strong operational prowess in the automotive industry, specifically Tier 1 supplier experience with the OEM's.
  • Prior manufacturing plant Controller experience a must.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong experience in creating/reviewing annual/monthly/weekly budgets and forecasts.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership and team development abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple and one-time projects with urgency and confidentiality.
  • Experience in month closing process.
  • Experence in variance analysis.
  • Ability to access risks and opportunities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to work very demanding and flexible schedule.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office, Business Intelligence Systems (e.g., Adaptive), MFG PRO/QAD or similar ERP experience.
