Tekla Structures/BIM Structural Designer (for projects in Switzerland) Job Description

In the Public and Commercial Places segment, our Structural Engineering team supports clients in the planning and delivery of a wide range of building and infrastructure projects in Switzerland. With offices in Zurich, Chur and Rapperswil and around 50 colleagues across the relevant sections, we combine local presence with interdisciplinary expertise to develop efficient, sustainable and high-quality structural solutions.

You will join our Structural Engineering team based in one of our Design Centers in Poland — Łódź, Poznań or Kraków. In this role, you will contribute to exciting projects in the field of public and commercial buildings and support the development of structural BIM models, drawings and documentation in close collaboration with engineers and project teams across different locations. Through cross-location collaboration and knowledge sharing, you will have the opportunity to further develop your technical skills and benefit from a strong professional network.

Based on your qualifications and experience we have opening for the following positions: Assistant Structural Designer, Junior Structural Designer, Structural Designer and Senior Structural Designer.

Your key responsibilities are:

  • Creation of 3D BIM models for structural systems in building construction, including reinforced concrete, steel and timber structures, as well as excavation works with retaining systems and temporary support measures
  • Preparation of drawings for preliminary, detailed design and construction phases in building construction and structural engineering, mainly formwork, reinforcement and steelwork 2D drawings
  • Development of models and drawings using Tekla and Allplan
  • Preparation of related documentation such as material lists and order lists
  • Close collaboration with project managers, structural engineers and other disciplines
  • Active communication within the project team to ensure efficient and high-quality project delivery
Qualifications

Must have:

  • Completed vocational training as a draftsperson, structural design technician or comparable technical qualification
  • Up to 5 years of professional experience in a similar role, ideally in structural engineering
  • Very good knowledge of Tekla, preferably in 3D Concrete, Reinforcement, Steel and Wood modelling
  • Experience in creating reinforcement models and 2D reinforcement drawings in Tekla
  • Experience working on BIM projects and enthusiasm for model-based design
  • Good spatial awareness and precise working methods
  • Interest in contributing to complex and large-scale projects
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary teams
  • Good spoken and written English
  • Independent, reliable and team-oriented personality

Good to have:

  • Up to 2 years of experience in a similar role
  • Experience working on Swiss projects
  • Good German language skills at B2 level or higher
  • Good knowledge of Allplan
  • Good knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit
  • Experience with Python and Grasshopper for Rhino
