Job description

Position Summary:
The Inventory & Logistics Manager is responsible for overseeing all inventory control, warehouse operations, material handling, and shipping/receiving activities within a fast-paced aerospace manufacturing environment. This role ensures inventory accuracy, efficient material flow to support production schedules, and compliant domestic and international shipments. The Inventory & Logistics Manager will lead a team of material handlers and shipping personnel while driving continuous improvement in inventory processes, warehouse organization, and logistics performance.


Key Responsibilities:

Inventory Management & Accuracy

  • Maintain and drive overall inventory accuracy through cycle counting, physical inventories, and root cause analysis of discrepancies.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce inventory control procedures and best practices.
  • Monitor inventory transactions in MRP systems to ensure real-time accuracy of inventory levels and locations.
  • Investigate inventory variances and implement corrective/preventive actions.
  • Partner with Supply Chain, Production, Engineering, and Quality teams to ensure proper material availability and traceability.
  • Manage excess, obsolete, and slow-moving inventory processes.

Warehouse & Material Flow Management

  • Oversee daily warehouse operations, including receiving, stocking, picking, issuing, and staging materials for production.
  • Ensure efficient material flow through manufacturing and assembly operations to minimize downtime.
  • Optimize warehouse layout and storage systems for efficiency, safety, and scalability.
  • Ensure FIFO and lot/serial number traceability requirements are maintained where applicable.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant warehouse environment following OSHA, ISO, and company safety standards.

Shipping, Receiving & Logistics

  • Manage all inbound and outbound shipments, including domestic and international freight.
  • Coordinate with carriers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers to ensure on-time and cost-effective deliveries.
  • Ensure shipping documentation is accurate and compliant, including packing slips, BOLs, export documentation, and certifications.
  • Oversee receiving inspections and proper documentation of incoming goods.
  • Track freight performance, costs, and claims resolution.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, train, and develop material handlers, warehouse personnel, and shipping/receiving staff.
  • Assign and monitor productivity and performance.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching and development opportunities.

Process Improvement & Compliance

  • Drive Lean/5S initiatives in warehouse and logistics operations.
  • Develop and track KPIs such as inventory accuracy, on-time shipments, line-side delivery, and picking accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures, aerospace quality standards, and safety regulations.
  • Support internal/external audits related to inventory and logistics processes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • 5+ years of experience in inventory, warehouse, and logistics management in a manufacturing or assembly line environment.
  • Aerospace, aviation, or highly regulated manufacturing industry experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of ERP/MRP systems (QAD, SAP, Oracle, or similar).
  • Experience managing domestic/international shipping, freight carriers, and export compliance.
  • Knowledge of inventory control practices, traceability, cycle counting, and warehouse management systems.
  • Leadership experience managing warehouse or material handling teams.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and reporting tools.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with AS9100, ISO9001, or similar quality systems.
  • Knowledge of EAR/ITAR export compliance regulations.
  • Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
  • Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods.
