Overview
DRT Strategies delivers expert management consulting and information technology (IT) solutions to large federal agencies, state and local government and commercial clients in health care, technology, and financial services industries.
The three letters of our name, DRT, stand for Driving Resolution Together, which is the core philosophy on which the company was founded. That is, we collaborate with our clients to solve their most pressing challenges - together.

Project Description:
This opportunity supports a national public health program within the Department of Veterans Affairs, focused on disease surveillance and rapid response to emerging health events across the VA system. The work involves epidemiologic investigations, large-scale patient lookback and notification efforts, and specialized public health laboratory testing in support of clinical care and outbreak response. Personnel collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of clinicians, epidemiologists, laboratory scientists, data analysts, and communications staff to investigate potential exposure events and deliver timely, accurate findings. This is an onsite role based in Northern California, with occasional travel to affiliated medical facilities in the surrounding region. Ideal candidates bring prior experience in a federal health, public health, or clinical research setting and are comfortable handling sensitive patient information in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
Job Summary:
Lead the people, plans, and timelines behind high-stakes public health investigations supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs. In this role you'll be the operational backbone of a multi-disciplinary team; scientists, analysts, IT staff, and communicators; keeping complex, fast-moving projects on schedule, on budget, and aligned with federal stakeholders. If you thrive on bringing order to ambiguity and want your project management skills to serve a mission that protects Veterans' health, this is a chance to do work that matters.
Responsibilities:
  • 5+ years of project management experience leading multi-disciplinary teams (clinical, laboratory, IT, analytical, and/or communications staff) on technical projects.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and managing project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation across multiple project phases.
  • Experience establishing work plans and staffing plans, assigning duties and scope of authority to project personnel, and recruiting/assigning project staff.
  • Experience producing recurring written deliverables (e.g., monthly progress reports, project plans, staffing plans) for a client or executive stakeholder.
  • Experience coordinating with government regulatory or other government agencies and managing inter-/intra-departmental dependencies.
Required Experience:
  • Prior project/program management on a VA or VHA contract; especially supporting PHSR, the PHRL, QSV, or work at VAPAHCS.
  • Experience managing public health, epidemiologic investigation, outbreak response, or patient lookback/notification projects.
  • Familiarity with VA deliverable, invoicing, and reporting expectations and with managing geographically distributed teams across multiple medical facilities.
  • Prior experience on a federal services contract (FFP) with formal CDRL/deliverable schedules.
Preferred Experience:
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification strongly preferred.
Education & Training:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., public health, health administration, business, life sciences, or related).
  • Master's preferred.
Work Authorization, Clearance Requirement, & Additional Information:
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government Public Trust clearance. Due to contract requirements, candidates must be U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents (green card holders) to be eligible.
  • No agencies, third parties, or Corp-to-Corp submissions.
Salary Range:
  • $120,000 - $150,000
  • Salary commensurate with experience.
