POSITION TITLE:    Grade Level II: Assistant to the Band Director
REPORTS TO:    Principal | Assistant Principal | Band Teacher
LEVEL:    Level II Support Staff 12 Months


QUALIFICATIONS AND DUTIES
Required Experience or Training
    Must hold State and NCLB statement of approval issued by the Illinois State Board of Education
    Paraprofessional and/or Substitute License
Desired Experience or Training
    Bachelor's Degree
    Previous experience as a teacher's aide
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
    Functions as assistant to Band Teacher
    Able to assist students with learning to play instruments
    Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
    Excellent time management skills
    Excellent organizational skills
    Excellent public relation skills
    Ability to meet mandated deadlines
    Ability to handle confidential information
    Ability to complete multifaceted tasks
    Ability to work as a team member
    Ability to establish good rapport with faculty and staff

ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES
    Uniform cataloging (on computer)
    Instrument cataloging (on computer)
    Distribution of instrumental lockers and locks (on computer)
    Instrument repair statements and requisitions
    Photocopying of music
    Filing of music, requisitions and general papers
    Manage all aspects of vendor relationships and activities in support of organization and leadership development activities
    Develop a database for the Alumni Band students and maintain records
    Responsible for organizing and overseeing the record keeping activities pertaining to Band
    Coordinate and develop community partnerships
    Supervise the billing, collection and deposits of band funds into the business office
    Coordinate appointments, schedule events, and provide administrative support
    Responsible for band monthly calendar distribution
    Develop programs to keep band enrollment up to date and encouraging student development
    Coordinate all band concerns and award ceremonies
    Coordinate senior band luncheon
    Enhance and maintain key external business alliances and fund raisers
    Assist in development of marketing materials for the band program
    Resolve issues such as student obligations, invoices/billing and student payments
    Handle all issues relating to band supplies (uniforms, jogging suits, etc.) including maintenance of instruments
    Responsible for all band fund raisers in conjunction with Band Instructor
    Coordinate all band trips including bus transportation and hotel reservations
    Attend all band performances including varsity home football/basketball games, band concerts, weekend & holiday parades and band parent meetings, etc.
    Able to work summer band camp (JuneJuly)
    Other responsibilities which may be assigned and/or administratively directed
