Job description

The Business Manager, Performance Parts is responsible for leading, growing, and developing the Performance Parts organization. This role is critical in driving strategic service initiatives, standardizing operational processes, improving performance, and expanding service offerings to meet evolving customer needs. The position collaborates closely with internal stakeholders, subcontractors, and customers to strengthen the Performance Parts (consumables) portfolio and ensure consistent, high quality service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

Participate in strategic planning to define core product offerings and identify priority customer segments.

Support long term business planning aligned with Valmet's overall strategic objectives.

Operational Excellence

Implement consistent practices, procedures, and business processes across the region.

Champion continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, safety, and efficiency.

Contract Compliance

Review and audit contract language to ensure alignment with company policies, commercial guidelines, and risk management requirements.

Forecasting & Performance Monitoring

Provide accurate forecasts for bookings, margins, labor utilization, and resource requirements.

Monitor business performance and adjust plans as needed to achieve financial targets.

Pricing Strategy

Develop and manage service pricing models that align with market conditions, competitive strategy, and business plan objectives.

KPI Management

Establish, track, and report key performance indicators to assess team effectiveness.

Promote best practices in the utilization of Compass and PowerBI for progress reporting and forecasting.

Business Development

Lead the growth of the consumables business segments through strategic sales efforts and direct interface with engineering and manufacturing resources.

Identify new revenue opportunities and drive targeted growth initiatives.

Cross Functional Collaboration

Build and maintain strong relationships with Operations teams and sub contractors to support workforce scalability during peak demand.

Partner with internal stakeholders to broaden technical capabilities and service capacity.

Service Agreements Support

Engage in and support service agreement programs in coordination with Business Manager, Agreements to coordinate Performance Parts agreement offerings, language and pricing.

Assist in developing and maintaining long term customer service partnerships.

Customer Engagement

Conduct onsite visits and promote Valmet's portfolio within customer and field environments.

Serve as a trusted advisor to customers by understanding operational needs and recommending suitable service solutions.

Job Requirements:

Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering, Paper Science, Business, or a related field, though equivalent relevant experience will also be considered. The role requires 5-7 years of technical experience such as machine engineering, process management, mill operations, or maintenance management, along with more than 10 years of experience leading sales teams, managing strategic plans, and executing targeted business initiatives. Successful candidates will demonstrate a proven ability to drive business growth and manage operational performance, possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, and be capable of working independently while managing a wide regional territory. This position also requires a willingness to travel throughout North America and participate in global events as needed.
