Job Summary/Purpose

All members of NRG's safety function will be expected to own safety, work to prevent incidents and seek to improve with the understanding that zero harm is possible. The Manager, Safety Performance will be responsible for developing, deploying, managing, and improving assigned safety platforms/databases and their associated standards. There will be regular opportunities to demonstrate skills in management and communications. This position will also be required to present to and engage with leadership, communicate any deficiencies identified and develop sustainable solutions to prevent future issues. It will be expected that the Manager, Safety Performance will engage with their peers and customers to support their growth and develop meaningful metrics and dashboards.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Maintain, develop and continuously improve assigned platforms (EHS, Security, Contractor, etc) and related policies and guidelines
  • Support data integration activities from various platforms into data lake and associated Power Bis
  • Identify manual processes and develop automation for data gathering and reporting
  • Support and develop AI initiatives and tools
  • Develop and perform trending analysis to drive continuous improvement across the fleet.
  • Develop a strong working relationship, through regular communication, with customers and team members.
  • Lead special projects to enhance performance across NRG
  • Lead in the development and implementation of any necessary tracking tools.
  • Develop tools to display and track system audits.
  • Perform and/or assist with data entry/extraction/modification in various information platforms used at NRG.
  • Travel to NRG sites, including corporate buildings, power plants, and job sites, to support customer and team initiatives
  • Maintain confidentiality around sensitive data

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to travel approximately 25% of the time
  • Work onsite (job site or office), overtime and/or non-standard working hours as directed
  • Always possess a valid Driver License
  • Requires wearing personal protective safety equipment

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering, safety or computer science or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum Experience: 7+ years of technology development and data experience;
  • Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities:
  • Power Apps, Power BI or Power Automate or equivalent applications experience
  • Familiarity in maintaining/configuring EHS platforms such as Intelex, Gensuite or equivalent
  • Technical and communication skills to solve problems and communicate issue resolutions
  • Experience around development and management of technology initiatives.
  • Experience using a personal computer and standard business software
  • Uses and maintains technical and professional knowledge, shares that knowledge with others, and recognizes/applies new technology in a cost-effective manner
  • Works independently and as a team member to accomplish self and teamwork goals and requirements
  • Demonstrates ability to operate effectively in a team environment - as team member or leader
  • Ability to effectively communicate (written and verbal) at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to effectively develop and make presentations
  • Ability to establish and maintain a positive and professional working relationship with all customers
  • Knowledge of applicable safety and security regulations
  • Obtains and applies knowledge of sound business practices in daily work activities and decision making
