Job description

A career as a Director Portfolio Management within the National Accounts Group at National Bank means being at the center of some of the Bankโ€™s most strategic transactions and contributing to the growth of leading Canadian businesses. You will work closely with Relationship Managers to structure and manage complex financing solutions for privately held companies with borrowing needs exceeding $20 million.

Leveraging your expertise in financial analysis, commercial lending, and transaction structuring, you will act as a trusted advisor to both internal partners and clients while playing a key role in assessing and managing credit risk.

Your Role
  • Partner with Relationship Managers to analyze, structure, and implement financing solutions tailored to complex client needs.
  • Perform in-depth financial analysis, assess credit risk, and provide strategic recommendations to credit committees.
  • Support the execution of sophisticated transactions, including acquisitions, syndicated financings, leveraged buyouts (LBOs), and major investment projects.
  • Collaborate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, including business partners, legal counsel, financial advisors, and other financial institutions.
  • Manage and optimize an existing client portfolio, ensuring strong credit quality and an exceptional client experience.
  • Contribute to the success of the team through your expertise, sound business judgment, and collaborative approach.

Prerequisites

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in a related field and 7+ years of relevant experience, or a Masterโ€™s degree in a related field and 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Strong background in financial analysis, including financial statements, forecasting, and business performance assessment.
  • Significant experience in commercial lending and a solid understanding of the commercial banking industry.
  • Expertise in complex financing structures, such as acquisitions, syndicated lending, leveraged buyouts (LBOs), and project financing.
  • Advanced financial modeling skills and strong proficiency with Excel.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management abilities.
