Job description

Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing skilled and semi-skilled work in the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of marina facilities, equipment, and infrastructure.

This role supports the safe and reliable operation of Pleasant Harbor by executing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining a clean and functional environment. The ideal candidate is mechanically skilled, safety-focused, and capable of working across multiple trades.


Key Responsibilities

Maintenance & Repairs

  • Perform preventative, corrective, and emergency maintenance on marina equipment and infrastructure
  • Troubleshoot and repair issues related to electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and structural systems
  • Perform general repairs involving pipe, concrete, and metal fabrication


Equipment Operation

  • Safely operate tools and equipment, including forklifts, cranes, boats, reach booms, and related machinery
  • Perform routine inspections and basic servicing of tools and equipment
  • Report major equipment failures and coordinate repairs as needed


Facility Maintenance

  • Maintain cleanliness, safety, and functionality of marina facilities and surrounding areas
  • Assist with upkeep of docks, storage areas, and operational spaces
  • Support facility improvements and special projects as assigned


Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Identify, report, and mitigate safety hazards and maintenance risks
  • Use proper lifting techniques and adhere to ergonomic best practices to prevent injury
  • Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable standards


Qualifications & Requirements

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in maintenance, construction, or related trades
  • Valid driver’s license required


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Working knowledge of construction and maintenance trades, including electrical, plumbing, welding, and fabrication
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
  • Effective communication skills (verbal and written)


Physical & Work Requirements

  • Ability to lift 50–75 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks, including bending, stooping, squatting, and twisting
  • Ability to safely perform work using proper body mechanics and ergonomic practices
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and flexible schedules as needed
  • This is a safety-sensitive position. Candidates must successfully pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and may be subject to random testing in accordance with District policy.


Working Conditions

This position works in a combination of outdoor marina and maintenance environments and may be exposed to weather conditions, water hazards, and heavy equipment.
