Position: Human Resources Manager

Classification: Full-Time, Exempt

Reports to: President

Department: Human Resources

General Summary

Liniform Linen and Uniform Service is a family owned company located in Barberton, Ohio. Since 1924 Liniform has been dedicated to providing quality products and dependable service to the surrounding Northeast Ohio communities. Liniform helps businesses open their doors with confidence every day by providing products such as uniforms, napkins, table cloths, mats, mops, towels, and restroom supplies just to name a few. We are looking for a passionate, people-focused and experienced Human Resources Manager to lead and develop our Human Resources function and partner with the Leadership Team to create a positive, respectful and engaging employee experience.

The HR Manager will be an advocate for the health, safety, development and success of our employees and will help ensure that Liniform remains an employer of choice in our community.

Essential Functions Human Resources Leadership & Employee Relations
  • Serve as a member of the Liniform Leadership Team and provide guidance and support to management on Human Resources matters.
  • Develop, implement and continuously improve HR policies, procedures and programs that support the company's strategic goals and culture.
  • Serve as a trusted resource for employees and managers regarding workplace concerns, policies, benefits and other HR related matters.
  • Promote a positive, respectful and inclusive workplace culture focused on employee engagement, retention and development.
  • Coach and advise managers on effective communication, employee feedback, recognition, performance management and employee relations.
  • Monitor and advise managers and supervisors regarding progressive discipline and performance improvement processes.
  • Investigate employee concerns, complaints and workplace issues and make appropriate recommendations to management.
  • Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive employee information and situations.
Payroll, HRIS & Employee Records
  • Oversee the company's payroll process to ensure employees are paid accurately and timely.
  • Serve as the primary Human Resources administrator for iSolved, including payroll, benefits and employee management functions.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records within iSolved and other company systems.
  • Manage employee information, new hires, status changes, terminations, compensation changes, timekeeping and other employee data.
  • Ensure payroll and employee information is accurately maintained and updated in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
  • Work with managers and employees to resolve payroll, timekeeping and employee record issues.
  • Utilize HRIS reporting and analytics to provide management with information and data to support business decisions.
  • Prior experience with iSolved is strongly preferred. Experience with other HRIS/payroll systems will also be considered.
Benefits Administration
  • Manage the administration of company benefit programs, including health insurance, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, retirement and other employee benefits.
  • Coordinate annual open enrollment and communicate benefit information and changes to employees.
  • Serve as a resource to employees regarding benefit eligibility, enrollment and questions.
  • Work with insurance brokers, carriers and benefit providers to resolve employee issues and ensure accurate administration of benefits.
  • Monitor benefit costs and recommend changes or enhancements that support employee satisfaction, retention and the company's financial objectives.
  • Maintain accurate benefit records and ensure required employee and company notices are provided.
Recruiting, Hiring & Onboarding
  • Lead the company's recruiting and hiring practices and develop effective strategies to attract qualified candidates who align with Liniform's culture and values.
  • Partner with managers to identify staffing needs and develop job descriptions and hiring plans.
  • Coordinate job postings, candidate screening, interviews, background checks and employment offers.
  • Ensure all required pre-employment documentation is completed.
  • Develop and oversee an effective onboarding process that provides new employees with the information, training and resources needed to be successful.
  • Monitor new employee progress and work with managers to ensure a successful transition into the organization.
  • Develop strategies to improve employee retention and reduce turnover.
Training & Employee Development
  • Coordinate and oversee company-wide Human Resources training programs.
  • Ensure required training is completed and documented, including OSHA, HLAC, BWC and other applicable requirements.
  • Identify training and development opportunities for employees and managers.
  • Coach and train managers on leadership, communication, performance management, employee relations and other HRrelated topics.
  • Provide employees and managers with appropriate educational materials, workshops, manuals and resources.
  • Support employee development and succession planning initiatives.
Compliance & Risk Management
  • Maintain knowledge of and ensure compliance with applicable federal, state and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Monitor compliance with requirements related to EEO, ADA, FMLA, ERISA, Department of Labor regulations, workers' compensation, OSHA and other applicable employment laws and regulations.
  • Maintain required HR records and documentation.
  • Coordinate workers' compensation claims and work with employees, managers, insurance carriers and outside providers as necessary.
  • Partner with company leadership and outside legal counsel or HR professionals on complex employee relations, compliance or employment matters.
  • Stay current on changes in employment laws, regulations and HR best practices and communicate significant changes to management.
Workplace Safety
  • Partner with management to promote a strong company-wide culture of workplace safety.
  • Assist in identifying workplace safety concerns and recommend corrective actions.
  • Coordinate and maintain required safety training and documentation.
  • Work with managers and employees to promote safe work practices and compliance with company safety policies.
  • Assist with OSHA, BWC and other safety-related requirements and audits.
HR Administration & Reporting
  • Maintain accurate and confidential personnel files and HR records.
  • Prepare HR reports and analytics for management as needed.
  • Establish and monitor HR measurements that support the company's strategic goals.
  • Track employee turnover, retention, recruiting activity, absenteeism and other key HR metrics.
  • Keep the President informed of significant Human Resources issues, trends or concerns that could affect company performance or employee relations.
  • Participate in executive, management and company staff meetings.
  • Coordinate the company's relationship with HR consultants, attorneys, training specialists, insurance brokers, benefit providers and other outside resources.
  • Continue professional development and stay informed of current Human Resources best practices.
Required Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Human Resources, Business, Organizational Development or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, with demonstrated experience managing multiple areas of HR.
  • Experience with payroll administration, benefits administration and employee records.
  • Experience with an HRIS/payroll system; iSolved experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws, HR practices and compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience with employee relations, performance management and conflict resolution.
  • Experience recruiting, interviewing and onboarding employees.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects while meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office and HR-related software.
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR or SPHR certification is preferred but not required.
  • Active affiliation with appropriate Human Resources organizations and ongoing professional development is preferred.
Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time, exempt position. The normal work schedule is Monday through Friday, with hours established in coordination with the President. Occasional evenings, Saturdays or schedule adjustments may be necessary to accommodate business needs, employee meetings, training or other company activities.
