Responsibilities
The Position:
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) Manager to lead a globally distributed engineering team responsible for next-generation infrastructure platform development. This role requires strong technical depth in Linux-based systems, low-level platform software, and hardware/software integration, combined with proven leadership capabilities to guide teams across multiple time zones. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in x86 platform development, board bring-up, kernel development, and hardware abstraction layer (HAL) development, while fostering collaboration, technical excellence, and delivery execution across the organization.
  • Lead and manage a team of approximately 20 engineers distributed across two time zones.
  • Drive development and delivery of Infrastructure as a Service platform capabilities for Linux-based systems.
  • Provide technical leadership in:
    • Board bring-up and platform initialization
    • Linux kernel development and debugging
    • Hardware abstraction layer (HAL) design and implementation
    • System-level integration across hardware and software components
  • Collaborate with architecture, platform, networking, and application teams to ensure scalable and reliable infrastructure solutions.
  • Establish engineering best practices for development, integration, testing, automation, and release management.
  • Mentor and coach engineers and technical leads to build strong ownership and technical depth within the organization.
  • Participate in architecture reviews, technical roadmap planning, and cross-functional design discussions.
  • Troubleshoot complex system-level issues spanning hardware, firmware, kernel, and infrastructure software layers.
  • Balance hands-on technical contributions with people leadership and program execution responsibilities.
  • Drive operational excellence, continuous improvement, and high engineering quality standards.

The salary range of $131,000 - $236,000 is just one component of Panasonic's total package. The final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to individual's knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses and incentives.
Qualifications
What we're looking for:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in systems software, infrastructure platforms, or embedded Linux development.
  • 3+ years of experience managing engineering teams in a distributed/global environment.
  • Strong hands-on expertise with:
    • Linux internals and kernel development
    • x86 architecture and platform bring-up
    • Hardware abstraction layer (HAL) development
    • System debugging and performance analysis
    • Device drivers and low-level systems programming
  • Proficiency in C/C++ and scripting languages such as Python or Bash.
  • Experience leading cross-functional technical initiatives from concept through production deployment.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and mentoring skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with ARM-based platforms and architectures.
  • Familiarity with virtualization, containerization, and cloud infrastructure technologies.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation frameworks, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Knowledge of distributed systems, Kubernetes, or platform orchestration technologies.
  • Experience working in Agile or SAFe development environments.

  • Paid time off: Exempt Salaried employees receive flexible paid time off. This means that there is no fixed number, range, or limit to the amount of Personal and Vacation Days that may be taken for exempt employees. Non-exempt hourly employees accrue 14 vacation days per year + 7 sick days + 3 personal days. Accrual rate increases with tenure. All employees receive 11 company paid holidays per year. We also close our offices at the corporate level in the U.S. between Christmas and New Year. For operational positions that are expected to work on holidays, we provide additional compensation for hours worked.
