Job description

Project Engineer (Lead, and Senior) **Sign-On Bonus Potential**

Company:

Boeing Global Services (BGS) is seeking a broad range of experience levels including Lead and Senior Level Avionics Systems Engineers to join our Commercial Modifications Engineering team in Long Beach, California.

We are looking for experienced, engaged, and motivated engineers to join a team of highly skilled Project Engineers supporting Avionics and Airframe, Performance & Systems (AP&S) product lines. This selected candidate will be based in sunny Long Beach, California and will be working on complex work statements in coordination with Engineering, Program Management, and other key supporting organizations. In this high visibility position they will be able to combine the deep expertise and resources of the entire Boeing enterprise with the flexibility and fast pace of a post-production modification program to continuously raise the bar for technical excellence and product quality and safety.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Leads a cross-functional engineering team focused on project execution for Avionics or AP&S Modifications

  • Identifies technical risks, issues, and opportunities; Develops and executes plans for risk mitigation, issue resolution, and opportunity capture.

  • Resolves complex, cross-functional technical challenges, inclusive of leading Technical Design Reviews (TDRs). Partners closely with technical Subject Matter Experts (SME's) to resolve technical challenges.

  • Effectively navigates complex certification efforts, working with FAA and EASA appointed personnel

  • Collaborates with Program Management to develop integrated project plans and project schedules

  • Responds to changes to statement of work, assesses the impact and negotiates proposed changes to determine modifications to the deliverables, resources, costs and schedules

  • Supports project proposal activities by reviewing Statement of Work, assessing potential impact to certification, configuration control, and defines the overall effort required to complete the project

  • Identifies and leads improvement initiatives to improve quality, reduce cost, and reduce project flow

  • Identifies and tracks engineering performance metrics

  • Self-motivated and works under minimal direction.

This position is fully on-site in Long Beach, CA. Some domestic and/or international may be required to support our customers or to participate in learning experiences to enhance your career.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement

  • 5+ years' experience in an engineering role

  • 5+ years' experience leading or managing integrated technical projects or teams across multiple organizations

  • 5+ years' experience full time aerospace industry within Avionics, Electrical, Software, Cabin Systems, Inflight Entertainment Systems, or Electro-Magnetic Effects

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 10+ years of higher education and/or related work experience (Higher education includes college, university, technical school, licensing/certification programs, etc.

  • Experience working in the commercial aircraft modification environment.

  • Experience with FAA certification requirements (14 CFR Part 25 Regulations).

  • Experience with FAA Airworthiness Directives.

  • Experience with Boeing's Organization Delegation Authorization (ODA) procedures.

  • Advanced knowledge and familiarity with Boeing Commercial Airplanes drawings, documents/procedures (i.e. BPM, BPI, etc.), manuals (i.e. AMM, CMM, etc.), and Service Bulletins.

  • Experience with Boeing commercial aircraft platforms.

  • Experience with providing briefings to senior and executive level management.

  • Demonstrated interest in continuous personal learning and development.

  • Ability to lead and uphold a culture of proactive safety, first-time quality, and continuous improvement.

  • Ability to quickly learn and work autonomously with limited supervision.
