Position Summary:

The Engineer-in-Training (EIT) position supports safe and efficient aggregate operations by managing production schedules, inventory, and budgets, while ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. Reporting to the Site Superintendent, the role includes coordinating mining and rehabilitation plans, assisting with special projects, and representing the site during government visits. The ideal candidate has an engineering background, working knowledge of AutoCAD, and is comfortable working in outdoor environments.

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, policies, and procedures, including coordinating required training and supporting government inspections
  • Develop and manage production, maintenance, and mining schedules, while communicating progress to both management and hourly employees
  • Manage the full lifecycle of third-party contractors, including assigning job requirements and locations, coordinating schedules and OH&S protocols, tracking and approving time, and overseeing invoicing and compliance
  • Monitor operating costs, forecast budgets, and report financial performance to ensure alignment with company targets
  • Coordinate production and inventory levels to meet sales goals and customer demand
  • Support site rehabilitation efforts in accordance with approved plans and assist the property department as needed
  • Contribute to special projects and company initiatives in collaboration with site leadership
  • Apply analytical thinking and problem-solving skills to interpret data, manage time effectively, and take initiative in resolving challenges

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Civil, Mining or Mechanical preferred)
  • 1–2 years of relevant industry experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and proficiency in MS Office; familiarity with SAP and MS Project is an asset
  • Solid understanding of the Occupational Health & Safety Act
  • Ability to work in outdoor environments with exposure to varying weather conditions
