We are a multifaceted CPA firm that provides financial and tax planning to our business and personal clients by offering payroll, accounting, bookkeeping, auditing, and tax services. We have close relationships with financial advisors and family attorneys which enable us to provide a full array of services to our clients under one roof.
The Job
The Accounting Manager plays a pivotal role in shaping the growth of Capstone Accounting, Outsourced Accounting Services Department, and provides exceptional services to our clients. This position involves managing monthly closes, preparing financial reports, ensuring compliance, supporting staff, and leading various accounting projects.
What do we need you to do?
  • Oversee and assist with monthly client accounting file closures, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Ensure adherence to all tax and compliance obligations, including year-end reporting.
  • Maintain effective communication with clients to accurately reflect their financial activities.
  • Present a professional demeanor during client interactions, building trust and long-term relationships.
  • Directly manage a specific internal accounting/bookkeeping team. Manage work/task assignments and deliverables within the team. Responsible for setting up the work schedule & prioritization for bookkeepers. Lead weekly bookkeeping meetings.
  • Handle Performance Evaluations of the accounting team members. Monitor and measure performance metrics of bookkeeping staff for efficiency and accuracy.
  • Responsible for checking accuracy of financial reviews that are sent to the client.
  • Implement new clients: including complex integrations, clean ups, conversions, and consultations for new clients.
  • Jointly review new software tools and opportunities. Implement software changes or improved workflows as necessary.
  • Lead Staff Training & Development meetings, Client workflow improvement meetings, and Training meetings for Accounting Staff.
  • Document processes and responsibilities for standard operating procedures.
  • Have familiarity with the current suite of software products including QuickBooks Desktop, Xero, QuickBooks Online software, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Outlook.

Qualifications for this position:
  • Software - Certified QBO ProAdvisor + real-world experience working in QuickBooks Online is preferred.
  • Adept at troubleshooting and optimizing its use for client accounts.
  • At least 5 years of accounting and bookkeeping work experience with small businesses (under $20 million in annual revenue) in the United States.
  • Must have a minimum of 1 year of leadership experience.
  • Must have a minimum of 1 year of project management experience in which you were responsible for prioritizing client expectations and assigning work to supporting staff.
