Tenure-Track Faculty Position in Business and Sport Management


The Sport Management Program in the Department of Business at Covenant College, an agency of the Presbyterian Church in America and an academically rigorous Christian college emphasizing the liberal arts in the Reformed and Presbyterian tradition, invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position beginning July 1, 2026. Rank and compensation will be commensurate with experience.


The candidate who fills this position will be someone with both academic and practitioner experience in sport management or business with a sports focus, who is capable of teaching a variety of undergraduate sport management and business courses.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach a variety of undergraduate courses in core areas within the sport management and business majors
    • Priority will be given to candidates who can teach sport law and business law, and/or analytically oriented courses
    • Teaching load: 24 credits per academic year, with a course release in the first semester
  • Engage in research, scholarship, and other professional activities
  • Collaborate with the sports industry by working on real-world events alongside students, providing experiential learning opportunities
  • Mentor and advise undergraduate students
  • Participate in the life of the campus community and faculty governance


Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. in Sport Management, Business Administration, or related business area (Economics, Finance, Analytics, etc.) from an accredited institution is preferred.
  • ABD candidates or candidates with a Master's Degree in Sport Management, an MBA, or a JD with relevant experience working in sport will also be considered.
  • The ideal candidate will have prior teaching and/or research experience in sport business, or a business area that touches/connects to the sport industry.
  • Practitioner experience in sport management/business that will elevate academic instruction in the classroom and help prepare students for careers in the field
