Job description

The School of Business has been offering business education for over 40 years. The Sport Management Program within the School of Business at Madonna University invites applications for adjunct positions as Adjunct Instructor or Adjunct Assistant Professor (rank commensurate with experience) to teach courses in the undergraduate program. The Sport Management Program offers a dynamic undergraduate curriculum designed to meet the diverse interests and career goals of students. With a distinct track into the sport industry along with networking and experiential learning opportunities, the program prepares students for both immediate entry into a variety of sport industry settings and advanced study in graduate programs.

Responsibilities: Teach undergraduate course(s) in sport management (e.g., sport marketing, event management, governance, or related topics) and fulfill the duties of an adjunct faculty member. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to, adhering to university policies; meeting course objectives; assessing student work and providing timely feedback; maintaining accurate course records; and managing the course in Blackboard, including course materials, communication, and the gradebook.

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and Experience: 1. Master’s degree in sport management or a closely related field required; terminal degree preferred. 2. Previous teaching experience at the college level and demonstrated teaching effectiveness. 3. Minimum of two years of professional experience in sport management, athletics administration, or related areas preferred. 4. Ability and availability to teach in-person day and evening courses in Livonia, MI, and online courses. 5. Ability to effectively use the Blackboard Ultra Learning Management System. 6. Demonstrated scholarship through presentations, publications, or professional practice preferred.

Adjunct positions are filled on a semester-by-semester, as-needed basis.
