Job Description Summary

The College supports numerous signature initiatives, including the Bryan & Mary Durkin Family Finance & Trading Lab, the Lowell Stahl Center for Entrepreneurship & Real Estate, the Lewis Innovation Hub, the Sales Excellence Program, and dedicated Career Services for Business students.
The College of Business invites applications for a full-time Professor of Practice position in Sport Management at the rank of Assistant Professor. The preferred start date is July 1, 2027.
The successful candidate will provide outstanding teaching, professional engagement, scholarship appropriate to AACSB faculty qualification status, student advising, and service to the College, University, and profession. Faculty are expected to support the College's mission while maintaining professional and/or scholarly currency consistent with AACSB faculty qualification standards.
In addition to excellence in teaching, the successful candidate will contribute to the continued growth and visibility of the Sport Management program through curriculum innovation, student mentoring, industry partnerships, and active participation in University service.

Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Teach undergraduate and graduate Sport Management courses in traditional, accelerated, hybrid, and online modalities.
• Deliver course instruction aligned with approved student learning outcomes and AACSB standards.
• Maintain a twenty-four (24) credit-hour teaching load per academic year.
• Develop, revise, and maintain course syllabi, instructional materials, and Blackboard course shells.
• Utilize effective instructional practices and technology to enhance student learning and engagement.
• Assess student learning, submit grades in accordance with University policy, and participate in program assessment and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain regular office hours to advise and mentor students regarding academic success, career planning, internships, and professional development.
• Advise undergraduate students regarding degree progression and mentor undergraduate and graduate students on professional development.
• Participate actively in curriculum development, accreditation activities, program assessment, student recruitment, retention initiatives, and strategic planning.
• Serve on College and University committees and participate in faculty governance.
• Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with colleagues, alumni, industry professionals, employers, and community partners.
• Demonstrate leadership in establishing, growing, and promoting undergraduate and graduate Sport Management programs.
• Maintain academic and/or professional engagement supporting AACSB faculty qualification status through ongoing scholarly activity, professional development, industry engagement, certifications, consulting, or other qualifying activities.
• Remain current with emerging trends, issues, and best practices in Sport Management and incorporate those developments into teaching and program initiatives.
• Participate in required University and College training, certifications, and professional development.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Department Chair and Dean.
Minimum Qualifications
AACSB Faculty Qualification Expectations:
Faculty members must meet and maintain AACSB qualification as a Scholarly Academic (SA), Practice Academic (PA), Instructional Practitioner (IP), or Scholarly Practitioner (SP) as defined by AACSB standards. Qualification is demonstrated through an appropriate combination of academic preparation, professional experience, scholarly activity, and ongoing academic and/or professional engagement. Faculty are expected to maintain documentation supporting their qualification status throughout their employment.
Earned Doctorate in Sport Management, Business Administration, or a closely related discipline from an AACSB-accredited institution.
• Minimum of five (5) years (approximately 10,000 hours) of progressively responsible professional experience within the sport management industry.
• Ability to teach effectively in face-to-face, hybrid, online, and asynchronous learning environments.
• Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
• Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships with faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders.
• Demonstrated commitment to maintaining academic and/or professional engagement consistent with AACSB faculty qualification standards.
• Commitment to student success, diversity, equity, inclusion, and working effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
- Doctorate in Sport Management, Sport Administration, Business Administration, or a closely related discipline.
• Successful university-level teaching experience in Sport Management.
• Professional certifications relevant to the discipline.
• Established professional network within the sport industry.
• Experience developing academic programs, recruiting students, and building industry partnerships.
• Experience maintaining AACSB faculty qualification status within an AACSB-accredited College of Business.
