The position is located at Carrollton Career Center, 275 Northside Dr., Carrollton, Ga, 30117.

The Agent's territories will be CARROLL, COWETA, MERIWETHER, DOUGLAS, HARALSON, HEARD, PAULDING, POLK, FLOYD, TROUP.

The Benefit Payment Control Agent, under general supervision, reviews unemployment insurance fraudulent and non-fraudulent claimant overpayment cases.

Essential Function and Responsibilities:

  • Under general supervision, reviews Unemployment Insurance Fraudulent and Non-Fraudulent Claimant Overpayment Cases submitted for collection by department staff, for compliance with applicable program regulations.
  • Gathers pertinent documents and evidence to support case(s).
  • Analyzes findings and makes a determination as to the sufficiency of evidence to support prosecution.
  • Assists in preparing cases for collection, criminal prosecution, or civil action.
  • Testifies, as necessary, in administrative hearings or court proceedings.
  • Negotiates and monitors repayment agreements with non-fraudulent claimants and proceeds with court action upon default.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Four years of unemployment insurance benefits experience
  • Two years of experience performing duties related to determining program eligibility
  • Two years of experience filing civil actions for the purpose of collecting debt
  • One year experience processing and rendering benefit overpayment determinations

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma/GED and completion of 90 quarter hours or 60 semester hours in criminal justice or a related field and three (3) years of experience in the related area.--Note: An equivalent combination of knowledge, education, job or intern experience, training, or certifications that provides the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted year-over-year.
