Job Overview
The Content Designer shapes strategic, meaningful, and user-centered content that guides customers through Macy's digital experiences. This role designs content as an integral part of the product experience, ensuring that every interaction across Macy's site and app is clear, intuitive, and helpful.
Partnering closely with UX designers, researchers, and product managers from discovery through launch, they define how content supports the overall user journey and business objectives. By combining customer insights, product understanding, and brand-focused language, the role creates content that reduces friction, builds trust, and empowers customers to shop with confidence.
At the core, the Content Designer demonstrates curiosity about how people think and behave and thrives in collaborative environments where thoughtful debate and iteration lead to better customer experiences.
What You Will Do
  • Design clear, concise, and user-centered product content that supports an intuitive digital shopping experience.
  • Create and optimize content across the full customer journey, including discovery, product pages, bag, checkout, and post-purchase flows.
  • Partner with product designers, product managers, researchers, and engineers to integrate content into the product design process from discovery through launch.
  • Apply content design principles to simplify interactions and reduce friction.
  • Develop and execute content strategies that address customer needs while aligning with business goals and brand objectives.
  • Ensure content is accessible, action-oriented, and easy to understand, meeting digital accessibility standards.
  • Use research insights, usability testing, and analytics to inform content decisions and continuously improve the customer experience.
  • Leverage AI tools in day-to-day content design work to accelerate ideation, drafting, and iteration.
  • Contribute to and maintain content standards, terminology, and design system guidelines to ensure consistency across Macy's digital products.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining strong attention to detail and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.

Who You Are
  • Candidates with a bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply.

  • Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel. Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms. Requires close vision.
