We're searching for the next generation of innovative minds who want to shape the world and live to build. CMAC is looking for a Senior Project Superintendent in our DC Metro region. This role will ensure safe working conditions and proper application of safety policies at the job site.
What You Will Do:
As the Senior Project Superintendent, your primary daily responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
  • Reviews bid documents and estimates to provide constructability review and feedback with regards to crew sizing, task durations, and equipment needs.
  • Communicates effectively and builds positive relationships with clients, architects, and contractors.
  • Partners with project manager, client, and trade contractors to develop a work plan for the project. Establishes sequence, phasing, and pace of work requirements to accomplish schedule milestones. Continuously assesses and analyzes project's actual status against goals, develops contingency plans, and revises construction strategy if required.
  • Possesses complete understanding of Christman's scope on the project, including cost codes and budgets. Manages client expectations with regard to scope, and communicates potential budget issues.
  • Ensures that CMAC is represented at the project site every day work is being performed.
  • Establishes project-specific site expectations for safety, quality, unforeseen conditions, housekeeping, and general conduct.
  • Discusses relevant safety topics with CMAC trades and subcontractors on a daily basis or more frequently as conditions require. Ensures JHA's and TAG's are being utilized by all crew leads.
  • Investigates, reports, and takes appropriate action related to all accidents and incidents.
  • Discusses quality expectations with general contractor or client prior to work installation and ensures quality expectations are met throughout the duration of the project.
  • Manages CMAC self-perform crews, and ensures accurate daily timecards and weekly unit reports are being submitted for all field staff.
  • Plans and coordinates site logistics, including but not limited to, traffic patterns, equipment locations, storage, and staging.
  • Coordinates project team's preparation for upcoming work, and plans accordingly 6 months in advance for labor, material, and equipment needs.
  • Manages all aspects of trade contractor presence on project sites. Authorizes timesheets for extra work performed on a time and material basis.
  • Prepares for and attends pre-installation coordination meetings for all work areas that involve overlapping work by multiple trade contractors (e.g., slab on metal deck construction).
  • Oversees technical interpretation of construction documents and drawings. Assures consistency with contractual specifications and requirements for the project.
  • Maintains data in required information systems or databases, and utilizes required software.

Expected Hours of Work and Travel: Full time position. Extended hours and weekends may apply. Travel to and from the construction site is required, majority of the work will be done at the site. Most of the travel will be local, but some long distance and overnight travel may be required depending on the project.
What You Will Bring to the Team
Required experience, knowledge, and skills for this role include:
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum ten (10) or more years of commercial construction experience in a leadership role as a Foreman or Superintendent leading multiple projects at a time or a single large/complex project typically ranging from $15 M (self perform scope) and above.
  • -or- Equivalent combination of the above education, training, and experience.

Preferred experience, knowledge, and skills for this role include:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum ten (10) or more years of field experience in heavy civil, concrete or carpentry construction.
  • Basic computer skills, and a basic understanding of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Microsoft Word, Procore, Building Information Modeling (BIM), and a firm understanding of Microsoft Project.
  • OSHA 30-hour training, and First Aid/CPR certification.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications
  • Successful completion of classes or other training in construction management, project management, safety, and communications.
  • Demonstrated interest in and ability to develop familiarity with the site requirements, tools, methods, and materials of the full range of trade divisions.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to drive a project schedule.
  • Understands construction means and methods with a detail orientated approach.
  • Must be computer literate with knowledge of PC program.
  • Must have great internal and external customer service.
  • Advanced understanding of construction scheduling, cost control and demonstrated ability to control and supervise large groups.
