Overview:

We are looking for an entrepreneurial-minded, solutions-oriented Senior Manager with a proven track of driving revenue and growth through alternative channels and innovative formats within the publishing industry.

The ideal candidate will possess strong negotiation skills and account management abilities as they will be charged with spearheading strategic initiatives and managing top-tier partnerships. In addition, the Senior Manager will identify and cultivate new business opportunities that expand the reach of our iconic brands, including direct-to-retail partnerships and collaborations. If you are someone with a knack for trend spotting and a passion for disrupting the status quo and reshaping consumer behavior, this could be the role for you.

We are looking for an entrepreneurial-minded, solutions-oriented Senior Sales Manager to oversee key product categories within our global publishing team. This role will serve as the category lead for Audio Storytellers, Sound Books, Novelty, Activity, Apps, and AI based partners, spearheading strategic initiatives and managing top-tier partnerships. This role will also be tasked with identifying new business opportunities that expand the reach of our brands. The ideal candidate loves building relationships, spotting opportunities before they hit the market, and shaping the future of how audiences experience beloved brands.
 
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
  • Manage existing licensees across categories that include audio storytelling, novelty books, and ebooks; Develop and execute strategic plans that drive long-term growth.
  • Identify, evaluate, and pursue new business opportunities and partnerships that align with global publishing priorities.
  • Support the Director in creating alternative revenue streams for projects and product including but not limited to Direct-to-Retail collaborations, Direct-to-Consumer opportunities, promotional deals, and platform partnerships.
  • Set annual budgets, revenue targets, and performance expectations across assigned categories.
  • Ensure licensing partners meet or exceed revenue goals, delivering ongoing analysis, forecasting, and performance optimization.
  • Negotiate high-value deals that maximize growth, maintain brand integrity, and support corporate objectives.
  • Coordinate closely with internal stakeholders-including Editorial, Creative, Legal, Finance, and Marketing-to ensure alignment on priority initiatives, product development, and brand guidelines.
  • Present category performance, market insights, and forward-looking strategies to executive team and cross-functional teams.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 5+ years of experience in a revenue driving role within publishing industry; licensing or retail marketing experience a plus.  
Additional Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated success driving growth and consistently meeting or exceeding financial goals.
  • Proven track record of negotiating licensing deals and managing complex agreements.
  • Strong background in researching and vetting new business opportunities, assessing market viability, and leading category-level innovation.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence partners and collaborate across departments.
  • Ability to translate data-driven insights into actionable strategies and business opportunities
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Strong skills in strategic planning, business development, and negotiation.
  • Occasional domestic and international travel may be required.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Hiring Salary Range: $110,000.00 - 140,000.00. 

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.  The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable,  as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is bonus eligible.
