Job description

Location: Rochester, NY
Title: Nursing Assistant Trainee
Deadline: Until Filled

Agency/Dept.: Monroe Community Hospital
Description of Duties
This is a trainee position at Monroe Community Hospital in which the employee is hired on a per diem basis. Trainees participate in a short-term (approximately six (6) weeks) training program where they learn the skills necessary to transition to a Nursing Assistant position. Trainees begin their training in a classroom setting and each week progress into clinical practice. The third week of the program they are entirely involved in clinical practice. Trainees gradually assume the responsibilities of performing a variety of direct and indirect services for the chronically ill and convalescent patients at Monroe Community Hospital. Upon completion of the training program, and state and local testing, trainees may work under supervision for an additional two (2) to three (3) weeks pending receipt of testing results and formal certification. Promotion to Nursing Assistant takes place upon successful completion of the training, receipt of New York State certification as a Nursing Assistant, and appointment as a Nursing Assistant Trainee for a period of twelve (12) weeks. Employees who do not successfully complete the training period will be removed from the position. The employee reports directly to and works under the direct supervision of clinical and nursing staff. Does related work as required.

Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma.
