What are management consulting interns?

Management consulting interns are students or recent graduates who work temporarily at consulting firms to gain practical experience in solving business problems. Their responsibilities typically include conducting research, analyzing data, preparing presentations, and supporting consultants on various client projects. Management Consulting Interns are often assigned to support client projects that involve market research, data analysis, process improvement, or strategic planning. Interns usually work alongside experienced consultants, helping to gather and synthesize information, prepare client presentations, and contribute fresh perspectives during team discussions. While responsibilities vary by firm and project, interns are expected to take ownership of specific workstreams and deliver high-quality outputs under tight deadlines. This hands-on involvement not only strengthens consulting skills but also provides valuable exposure to clients and senior leadership.
