TitleMajor Gift Officer
The Major Gift Officer is a frontline fundraising professional responsible for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding philanthropic support from individuals, families, grateful patients, and community partners in support of Bronson Health Foundation's mission. Reporting to the Senior Director of Major Gifts & Legacy Giving, this role manages a portfolio of major gift donors and prospects while helping strengthen the Foundation's growing culture of philanthropy and donor engagement.
The Major Gift Officer plays a key role in identifying philanthropic opportunities, building meaningful donor relationships, and advancing fundraising strategies that support patient care, healthcare innovation, medical technology, community health, and strategic organizational priorities. This role works collaboratively with Foundation leadership, physicians, clinicians, and volunteers to align donor passions with transformational giving opportunities across the health system.

Key Responsibilities
Major Gift Fundraising & Portfolio Management
- Manage and actively cultivate a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors.
- Develop and execute individualized donor engagement, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies.
- Conduct donor visits, discovery meetings, and relationship-building activities designed to advance philanthropic commitments.
- Secure major gifts in partnership with Foundation leadership, physicians, executives, and board members.
- Build meaningful donor relationships that align philanthropic interests with Bronson Health Foundation priorities.
Donor Strategy & Relationship Development
- Identify, qualify, and advance prospective donors through the major gift pipeline.
- Collaborate with the Senior Director of Major Gifts & Legacy Giving and other fundraising colleagues to develop coordinated donor strategies.
- Support opportunities for blended and legacy giving conversations as appropriate.
- Ensure timely stewardship, donor recognition, and follow-up activities that strengthen engagement and retention.
Grateful Patient & Community Engagement
- Support grateful patient fundraising initiatives through collaboration with physicians, clinical teams, and operational leaders.
- Build relationships with community members, volunteers, and philanthropic stakeholders to increase awareness and engagement opportunities.
- Represent the Foundation at donor meetings, events, community functions, and stewardship activities.
Collaboration & Organizational Partnership
- Partner with Foundation leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to identify strategic funding priorities and donor opportunities.
- Work collaboratively with communications, events, advancement services, and leadership teams to support donor engagement efforts.
- Prepare donor briefings, meeting materials, proposals, and stewardship communications.
Data Management & Reporting
- Maintain accurate and timely donor records, contact reports, and pipeline activity within the CRM system.
- Track portfolio activity, donor movement, and fundraising progress toward established goals.
- Utilize donor data and analytics to support strategic decision-making and relationship management practices.
- Ensure compliance with Foundation policies, fundraising standards, and confidentiality expectations.
Strategic Impact
- Increase major gift pipeline development and annual philanthropic revenue growth.
- Strengthen donor engagement and stewardship practices that deepen long-term philanthropic relationships.
- Support campaign readiness through disciplined donor cultivation, qualification, and relationship management.
- Expand philanthropic engagement among grateful patients, families, physicians, and community stakeholders.
- Contribute to a high-performing culture of relationship-based fundraising and donor-centered philanthropy.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred We might get a great associate degree candidate
- Minimum of 2-5 years of fundraising, advancement, sales, business development, or relationship management experience preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships and influence philanthropic or business outcomes.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced, relationship-driven environment.
- High level of professionalism, emotional intelligence, discretion, and donor sensitivity.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail.
Preferred Experience
- Healthcare philanthropy, higher education, nonprofit fundraising, or mission-driven organizational experience.
- Experience managing donor or client portfolios.
- Familiarity with fundraising CRM systems and donor engagement strategies.
- Exposure to major gifts, grateful patient fundraising, or campaign fundraising initiatives.
