Job description

About this Job Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC) seeks to fill the position of Maintenance Repairer 2. The Maintenance Repairer 2 is located within the Facility Services Department and performs general maintenance functions to campus buildings, facilities, and equipment. This is a full-time position.

Minimum Qualifications Two years of experience or training in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance; OR Completion of a two-year vocational technical program in general building construction, construction technology, or engineering; OR Twelve semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering, or any combination of these courses. Job Specification The official job specifications for this role, as defined by the State Civil Service, can be found here. Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties: Makes general repairs to buildings, interiors, exteriors, furniture, fixtures, air conditioning/heating systems and other mechanical and related fields such as plumbing, carpentry and electrical.

Maintains and makes general repairs to a variety of motorized equipment including tune-ups, replacement and adjustment of won or damaged parts, (carburetors, generators, alternators, staters, pumps, brake linings/pads, etc.) and limited disassembly of major components (engines, transmissions, final drives, etc.) to determine the extent of damage and repairs necessary. Makes minor repairs to navigational locks such as replacing hydraulic hoses. Makes limited repairs to appliances, replaces parts and makes adjustments, etc

Starts, operates and checks for safety and maintenance of wide variety of handheld equipment, motorized vehicles, tractors, combines, hay balers, planters, etc. Performs other related duties as assigned. Position-Specific Details: Appointment Type: Probationary appointment with a one-year agency probationary period.
