Job description

We are seeking a reliable and resourceful Maintenance Assistant to join our team. As a Maintenance Assistant at our facility, you will help maintain a safe, clean, comfortable, and functional environment for our residents, staff, and visitors. If you have maintenance/repair skills, take pride in workmanship, and care about creating a supportive living environment, we would love to have you on board.


Maintenance Assistant Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist with landscaping tasks (mowing, trimming, planting) and maintain lawn care equipment

  • Maintain exterior & interior door locks; repair windows, screens, and light fixtures

  • Clean/change air filters; service heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) units per manufacturer guidelines and facility policy

  • Perform minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry tasks (e.g., painting, wall repairs, ceiling tile replacement)

  • Assist in building safety tasks: fire drills, safety audits, life safety code compliance, maintain records

  • Ensure compliance of life safety equipment (e.g. fire extinguishers)

  • Respond to maintenance requests / perform preventive maintenance / keep facility systems in working order

  • Maintain equipment and tools; follow safety procedures


Maintenance Assistant Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred

  • Carpentry, painting, minor electrical and plumbing skills preferred

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks
