Position Summary:

The Housekeeper/Maintenance Assistant will maintain the appearance of the community for the comfort and use of residents, family members, visitors, and employees. The Housekeeper/Maintenance Assistant will clean common areas and residents' apartments according to schedule, respond promptly to repair needs, and maintain a healthy and attractive environment.


Qualifications:

  1. Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  2. Desire to work with older adults. Friendly, caring disposition.
  3. Must be 18 years of age. Must have a satisfactory criminal history check.
  4. Must have physical exam by a licensed physician. Must have a negative drug screen.
  5. Must understand the risk of exposure to infectious waste, disease, chemicals, solution, and disinfectants.
  6. Must be able to react in an emergency situation.

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Clean all common areas, including guest restrooms according to schedule. This includes, but is not limited to:
  2. a) Vacuuming all carpeted areas
  3. b) Dusting all furniture, common area items, handrails, and hanging pictures
  4. c) Cleaning glass surfaces
  5. d) Cleaning doors, doorways, and walls of fingerprints or other dirt
  6. e) Vacuuming upholstery furniture according to schedule
  7. f) Cleaning and disinfecting common areas and public bathrooms
  8. g) Mopping common areas and bathrooms floors
  9. h) Cleaning and disinfecting soiled utility bins according to schedule
  10. i) Cleaning and organizing laundry areas and storage closets according to schedule
  11. Clean residents' room/apartment according to schedule. This includes but is not limited to:
  12. a) Vacuuming carpeted areas
  13. b) Dusting furniture
  14. c) Cleaning and disinfecting bathroom
  15. Respond to resident emergencies following proper policy and procedure.
  16. Offer choice, maintain dignity, and promote individuality for all residents. Provide quality service to residents in accordance with Oaks Senior Living philosophy of Person Centered Lifestyle and in accordance with resident rights.
  17. Maintain confidentiality of residents.
  18. Obtain 24 hours of continuing education in initial year of employment and 16 hours annually, thereafter. Maintain CPR & First Aid certification.
  19. Report supply needs to Maintenance Director.
  20. Carry out other duties as assigned.
  21. Assist with resident move-ins and move-outs. Prepare resident rooms/apartments for new residents.
  22. Ensure that residence and grounds are in good repair and provide a safe and attractive environment for residents. Inspect the residence and grounds regularly, identifying any areas in need of repair.
  23. Assist in carrying out a preventative maintenance program.
  24. Check daily for any requests for repairs. Respond promptly to all requests for repairs or maintenance concerns from residents, family members, and staff.
