Job Summary: The Legal Assistant - Letters reviews a daily worklist and creates letters to be sent to our consumers. Letters types may include offer and balance letters, closure letters, validation and documentation letters, responses to disputes or fraud claims, judgment letters, and accounting letters. The rep is required to confirm data in each letter to ensure that the information being sent out is accurate, as well as attaching all required documentation, checks, or court orders. The rep will work with firm attorneys who approve the letters prior to being sent. The Compliance Assistant may also cross-train on additional responsibilities, including assisting with audits and client requests for documents, processing inbound correspondence, outbound faxing and mailing, and/or filling in for the receptionist when he/she is out of office.


Essential Duties:

  • Daily monitoring of worklists will tell you what letters need to be printed or corrected each day.
  • Accurately review files, create letters that respond to the consumer or attorney’s request, and attach the appropriate documentation.
  • Track letters through the attorney approval process prior to mailing, and ensure that letters are correctly named, saved, and scanned into our database.
  • Work within all applicable Federal and State collection laws as well as client requirements.


Requirements:

Education/Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED is required; college is a plus
  • Prior experience in collections, banking, editing/proofreading, or legal assistant roles is a plus

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Attention to detail is a must!
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically, analyze problems, and use good judgment
  • Above average spelling, grammar, and basic math skills
  • Ability to stay organized while handling multiple projects
  • Comfortable using Excel, Outlook, Zoom, and navigating a computer database
