Job description

The Shipping & Receiving Coordinator will oversee loading dock and mail operations at Ford Field. This will include coordinating shipments on behalf of the Detroit Lions staff as well as organizing and distributing incoming deliveries/mail for all of Ford Field, including commercial real estate tenants. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:The Shipping & Receiving Coordinator position will have daily responsibilities including, without limitation, the following:
  • Develop a first in class standard and maintain organization and cleanliness of loading dock and USPS mail area, to include being the person responsible for the overall organization of the Ford Field dock operation
  • Main liaison for all carriers including USPS, FedEx, UPS as well as freight deliveries
  • Responsible for unloading trucks as needed using electric and propane forklifts, pallet jacks and other equipment as needed
  • Create mailing and shipping labels/documents
  • Provide shipping instructions to carriers and coordinate pickup times/location
  • Oversee and direct the flow of incoming packages to correct business unit
  • Contact department leads to coordinate delivery of incoming mail/shipments
  • Resolve any issues related to shipping and receiving, to include developing collaborative relationships with loading dock managers from FF partners (F&B, Security, Housekeeping) responsible for receiving shipments on behalf of their employees
  • Utilize shipping and receiving software system to track incoming and outgoing shipments
  • Develop key relationships with department/tenant contacts and ensure information is conveyed correctly and in a timely manner
  • Local travel to retrieve/ship packages may be necessary
  • Assist other departments such as Maintenance and Conversions with various tasks when time permits. Examples include field flooring install/removal, event set ups, storage management and other duties when needed.
  • Assist with FF staff lunch program. This may include scheduling food trucks/caterers, communicating logistics, communicating plans to staff and helping with clean up as needed
  • Assist with other responsibilities as needed determined by direct supervisor
NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Will accept other responsibilities and duties required by the supervisor consistent with the objectives and essential functions of this position. Such responsibilities shall be incorporated into the position description if they are ongoing.
  • Must be motivated, reliable, and able to work independently or as part of a team

  • Must be accurate and efficient with ability to meet deadlines

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. Certificate
  • 2 years of shipping & receiving experience.
  • Forklift certification, or willingness to complete training to obtain certification once hired
  • Team-First mindset and approach in all duties and responsibilities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to connect with, and relate to, all levels of staff, management, clients, and vendors.
  • Demonstrated work ethic with an innate sense of urgency and tenacity.
  • Team oriented attitude, relationship building, professional demeanor and appearance.
  • Ability to work independently and be productive during all hours while on site working
  • Strength in time management, administrative ability, organization, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays
  • May require work out of both the Ford Field Management Office and the Allen Park Training Facility
