Job description

Ensuring Chart’s Success…

Chart’s Machine Operator plays a key role in the manufacturing process of Chart’s products. Responsibilities of a Machine Operator include, but not limited to, the operation and setup of a CNC Plasma, CNC Waterjet, and a Plate Blaster machine. 

2nd Shift Position (2:45pm - 12:45am Monday - Thursday)

What Will You Do?
  • Setup, operate, and monitor multiple pieces of manufacturing equipment, including saws. 
  • Ability to troubleshoot multiple machines
  • Safe operation of equipment.
  • Inspect and perform minor maintenance on all assigned machines.
  • Maintain assigned shop equipment, hand tools and measuring devices.
  • Ability to operate overhead cranes/hoist and forklifts.
  • Maintain required production records.
  • Observe and practice safety procedures and policies.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work station with equipment in safe operating condition.
  • May be asked to work in other areas as company needs require
  • Perform other job-related duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
Your Physical Work Environment Will Require…
  • Frequent lifting and carrying up to 65 lbs. with assistance
  • Frequent sitting, standing, stooping, bending, twisting, walking and occasional crawling
  • Frequent pushing, pulling and handling of materials
  • Occasional climbing and working at elevated positions
  • Exposure to metal cutting, welding odors, welding flash and incidental acceptable limits of x-ray radiation
  • Possible exposure to chemical odors and temperature extremes
  • Exposure to overhead objects and occasional flying debris
  • Required use of safety glasses with side shields, ANSI approved steel-toed safety shoes, hearing protection and hard hat

  • Previous experience with various types of metals preferred
  • Previous machine/equipment operation.
  • Familiarity with the use of hand tools.
  • Familiarity of measuring devices such as micrometers, calipers, tape measures.
