POSITION SUMMARY
The Operations Support Representative at WEL Companies is responsible for executing and maintaining daily transportation operations across planning, driver support, and customer service. This role serves as a central point of coordination between drivers, dispatch, and customers to ensure freight is planned, executed, and delivered on time. This position is accountable for real-time issue resolution, proactive communication, and maintaining service performance standards. Success in this role requires strong decision-making, urgency, and the ability to manage multiple operational priorities simultaneously.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Plan and assign freight to drivers in alignment with service requirements, driver availability, and operational efficiency
  • Provide clear direction and support to drivers to ensure safe, compliant, and on-time execution
  • Monitor and track shipments and driver performance, including on-time service, ETA/PTA accuracy, and utilization
  • Communicate proactively with drivers, dispatch, and internal teams to address delays, service risks, and operational disruptions
  • Identify and resolve issues in real time, including service failures, breakdowns, and scheduling conflicts, to minimize impact to customers
  • Serve as the primary after-hours point of contact for customer inquiries, ensuring timely and accurate communication and issue resolution
  • Analyze operational data and reports to support service performance, fuel efficiency, and compliance with food safety standards
  • Collaborate with dispatch and planning teams to adjust schedules, recover service, and maintain customer commitments
  • Support overall operational readiness by ensuring next-day planning gaps, driver availability, and service risks are addressed prior to shift end
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support operational needs

SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; required
  • Associate degree (Logistics, Business Management, or relatable field); preferred

Experience:
  • 3 plus years of experience in the transportation industry.
  • AS400 experience; a plus

Computer Skills:
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software products and Windows.
  • Ability to learn and use proprietary software.
  • Advanced keyboarding skills.

Essential Skills:
  • Excellent oral and verbal communication skills.
