Spire Solutions is hiring a Logistics Manager to join our team in Phoenix, AZ! The Logistics Manager will oversee and coordinate logistics, purchasing, inventory, and material movement activities for construction projects. This role will manage the execution and monitoring of shipments while ensuring materials, equipment, and project-related items are purchased, received, tracked, stored, and delivered in alignment with project schedules and budgets. The Logistics Manager is someone who can thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven construction environment where priorities can change quickly.

What You'll Do:

  • Oversee and coordinate logistics operations supporting construction projects from procurement through delivery and final use
  • Purchase materials, equipment, tools, supplies, and other items ensuring purchases are made timely and within established budgets
  • Coordinate local and long-distance shipments, including FTL, LTL, oversized, specialized, and other freight movements
  • Research and compile transportation, material, and logistics costs for quotes; analyze pricing and recommend the most effective solutions
  • Coordinate with project teams to understand material requirements, delivery schedules, priorities, and changing project needs
  • Develop and maintain logistics, purchasing, inventory, and shipment schedules to ensure materials and equipment are available when needed
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date shipment, purchasing, inventory, cost, and vendor information
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate the receipt, storage, movement, and distribution of materials and equipment
  • Track shipments and proactively communicate delays, issues, or changes that may affect project schedules
  • Coordinate warehouse and logistics activities across multiple locations
  • Supervise, schedule, and coordinate logistics and hourly personnel, including assigning daily responsibilities and monitoring performance
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to logistics and warehouse staff to ensure efficient and consistent processes
  • Ensure logistics activities are performed safely and efficiently
  • Integrate various aspects of the supply chain system and develop innovative business solutions to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and support project execution
  • Monitor logistics and purchasing budgets and expenses to ensure department and project goals are met
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors, suppliers, freight providers, project teams, and internal stakeholders
  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers
  • Identify potential supply chain, purchasing, inventory, or delivery issues and proactively develop solutions
  • Assist with forecasting material and equipment requirements based on project schedules and anticipated needs
  • Ensure purchasing and logistics activities align with project schedules, contractual requirements, and company policies


What We're Looking For:

  • Experience:
    • 7+ years of experience in logistics, supply chain, freight forwarding, purchasing, warehouse operations, or a related field
    • Previous experience managing/leading a team required
    • Experience coordinating freight and transportation, including FTL, LTL, oversized, and specialized shipments
    • Experience purchasing materials, equipment, tools, and/or supplies for construction projects is desired
    • Experience managing inventory and material movement across multiple locations is a plus
  • Skills:
    • Knowledge of shipping documentation, freight requirements, and common trade protocols
    • High level of customer service and ability to build rapport
    • Flexibility to balance competing needs while meeting project goals/deadlines
    • Ability to effectively manage schedules, personnel, inventory, purchasing activities, and logistics operations simultaneously
    • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to evaluate vendors, pricing, and logistics solutions
    • Excellent leadership skills with the desire to mentor and develop a high performing team
    • Proactive approach in identifying and resolving issues before they impact project schedules
    • Ability to collaborate effectively with a variety of stakeholders
    • Self-motivated with independent judgement and problem-solving skills
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data and reporting to identify trends, monitor costs, and improve logistics operations
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Technology:
    • Proficient in basic computer software including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
    • Ability to learn specific job-related software upon hire
