Logistics Manager

Reports to: Chief Strategic Planning Officer

Role Summary

Leads the end-to-end logistics strategy and execution across UNACEM North America, overseeing inbound raw material logistics, outbound product distribution, terminal operations, and multimodal transportation networks (rail and truck). The role ensures reliable material availability, optimized logistics cost per ton, operational continuity, and efficient transportation performance while building strategic partnerships with logistics providers and supporting the company's long term growth objectives.

Purpose

Lead the execution and continuous optimization of UNACEM North America's logistics network by ensuring efficient inbound and outbound transportation, effective terminal administration, reliable material availability, and cost-effective logistics operations across rail and truck transportation systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead inbound logistics operations, ensuring the timely and reliable supply of raw materials to support uninterrupted manufacturing operations.

  • Lead outbound logistics operations, ensuring efficient product dispatch, transportation execution, and customer service performance across rail and truck transportation networks.

  • Oversee the administration, performance, and operational efficiency of company terminals, ensuring adequate inventory availability, optimized material flow, and operational continuity.

  • Develop and execute logistics strategies that optimize total logistics cost per ton while maintaining safety, service levels, and operational reliability.

  • Manage transportation procurement activities, including carrier sourcing, RFQs, negotiations, contract administration, and long-term carrier relationship management across rail and trucking providers.

  • Develop and maintain strategic transportation route guides, capacity planning models, contingency options and multimodal transportation strategies that maximize efficiency and business flexibility.

  • Monitor carrier performance through service, safety, cost, and operational scorecards, driving continuous improvement initiatives with logistics partners.

  • Gather transportation market intelligence, capacity trends, and freight market insights to support strategic sourcing decisions and transportation optimization.

  • Lead transportation sustainability initiatives, monitoring logistics-related emissions and identifying opportunities to improve environmental performance across transportation networks.

  • Ensure compliance with transportation regulations, carrier qualification requirements, contractual obligations, and risk management standards.

  • Partner with Operations, Commercial, and Finance to align logistics execution with business priorities, production requirements, and customer commitments.

  • Identify opportunities to improve terminal utilization, transportation productivity, network efficiency, inventory positioning, and overall logistics performance.

  • Lead, coach, and develop the logistics organization while fostering a culture of safety, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Knowledge

  • Advanced knowledge of inbound and outbound logistics operations.

Experience & Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Logistics, Operations Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 8–10 years of progressive experience in logistics, transportation, supply chain, distribution, or terminal operations.
  • Experience managing multimodal transportation networks.
  • Experience negotiating carrier contracts and managing third-party logistics providers.
  • Experience leading cross-functional operational teams and logistics optimization initiatives.
  • Experience with SAP, Transportation Management Systems (TMS), and business intelligence tools is preferred.
  • Advanced English proficiency required.
