ABOUT THE ROLE 

The Logistics Superintendent is responsible for leading and optimizing inbound and outbound logistics operations in alignment with the South32 Supply Chain Management Plan and Supply Standards. This role oversees material delivery, offloading processes, and end-to-end logistics coordination for both owner- and contractor-procured materials.

This position plays a critical role in ensuring efficient, compliant, and cost-effective logistics operations across domestic and international supply chains. This role is based at the Hermosa Project site, near Patagonia, Arizona. 

Other key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

   Develop robust business process for management of inbound & outbound logistics aligned with South32 Standards and Policies utilizing both 3PL and 4PL contractors.
   Own & manage Risks associated with Inbound / Outbound Logistics both Domestic and International
   Monitor completeness, accuracy, and compliance during transactions.

   Lead and supervise logistics team, resolving problems, conducting training, and setting schedules.
   Coordinate and define required expediting-tasks for all placed purchase orders
   Manage and coordinate all owner and contractor supplied OS/OW loads.  

   Develop process to track, audit, and ensure adequate supply of materials throughout the organization.
   Oversee the creation of detailed reports on delivery schedules, tariffs, invoicing, bussing, permitting and define team KPI's.
   Develop and manage contracted third party logistics provider for inbound logistics.  

   Develop and manage outbound concentrate logistics across multiple interfaces (Rail, Trucking, Ports, Customs)
   Develop and manage concentrate container optimization.  
   Assist in the development of site traffic management plan.  

   Coordination & facilitation of offloading, storage damages, shortage, and returns of all owner procured materials
   Work with HR and Operational Readiness to recruit and ensure the proper training of logistics personnel
   Manage employee bussing program, Contractor KPI's, and associated risks.

   Manage scheduling of contractor provided transportation. 
   Performs other related duties as assigned.
   Ensure the company's code of business conduct, health, safety, and sustainability values are communicated and adhered to by our vendors and service providers. 

    
ABOUT YOU 

   Bachelors degree in Business or related field
    Five (5) or more years of project, construction, or mining industry logistics or related supply chain areas.  

   Extensive experience within major projects or high volume inbound deliveries.

    Experience owning and managing material risk

   ASCM Logistics Management or similar certification desirable.
   Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, SharePoint, SAP or other ERP systems

   Maintain high standards of professional and ethical conduct
   Strong English language written and oral communication skills
   Effective communication with other departments and leadership

   Proven track record of developing and maintaining a safe work culture

   Ability to work under pressure, maintain composure, set priorities, and work with a project team
