The Senior Logistics Operations Manager shares responsibility for leading the logistics team and the operation’s profit and loss. This role focuses on daily operations, managing staff, maintaining strong customer relationships, and ensuring efficient use of capacity. The manager works closely with company leadership, customers, and other stakeholders, and directly oversees supervisors, managers, and their teams. This position is essential to staying competitive and meeting both operational and financial goals.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure logistics operations are properly staffed to meet workload demands
  • Direct and oversee management across all operations within the logistics unit
  • Monitor efficiency by reviewing costs, equipment use, and revenue performance
  • Collaborate with terminal operations to maximize capacity utilization
  • Foster open communication aligned with company values
  • Ensure timely, efficient freight delivery and resolve customer issues
  • Oversee hiring, performance management, goal setting, and coaching of staff
  • Share key updates with leadership on staffing, inventory, budgets, revenue, and risks
  • Oversee staff use of company credit cards to ensure all purchases, receipts, and related activities comply with company policy
  • Identify opportunities to increase revenue and improve operational efficiency

  • Proficient with technology, including transportation management systems, load boards, routing and dispatch tools, and Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
  • Knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations
