Vacancy OverviewInstructional Designer
- Houston, TX

Our client is seeking an Instructional Designer to work within their facilities located in Houston, TX, for an initial 6-month assignment, with possibility to extend.
The Instructional Designer is responsible for supporting the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation of training and performance improvement initiatives under the general direction of management. This includes updating and maintaining online learning modules, supporting live web-based training sessions, developing instructor-led training guides, learning job aids, and supporting materials following an instructional design process.
In addition to content development, this role will provide day-to-day support of the Learning Management System (LMS), including course administration, reporting, training assignments, content maintenance, and data cleanup activities. The Instructional Designer will use strong interpersonal, written, and visual communication skills to bring together text, images, video, and audio to communicate and train employees and stakeholders.
Cornerstone LMS experience is highly preferred.
Knowledge
The Instructional Designer must possess knowledge of eLearning software and systems used to develop and maintain learning materials. Experience with Articulate 360 and Storyline is required. Experience using Camtasia and Vyond is beneficial but not required.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel is required. Experience working with enterprise Learning Management Systems, particularly Cornerstone, is strongly preferred.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Partner and collaborate with SMEs and stakeholders to analyze learning and performance needs and recommend effective learning solutions.
  • Develop, update, and maintain training materials, including eLearning courses, job aids, instructor-led materials, assessments, and learner resources.
  • Leverage instructional design principles and adult learning concepts to support engaging and effective learning experiences.
  • Review, evaluate, and refine learning solutions based on stakeholder feedback, learner performance data, and business requirements.
  • Maintain corporate training matrices and learning records.
  • Support Cornerstone LMS administration, including course uploads, learner assignments, attendance tracking, training credit management, reporting, and content validation.
  • Assist with LMS maintenance activities, including data cleanup, course inventory reviews, stakeholder outreach, and retirement/inactivation of outdated content.
  • Troubleshoot basic LMS-related issues and support users as needed.
  • Work cross-functionally with Talent Development, SMEs, and other business stakeholders to support training initiatives.
Required Skills:
  • Strong instructional design skills, including learning needs analysis, curriculum development, and application of adult learning principles.
  • Working knowledge of Cornerstone OnDemand or another enterprise LMS, with experience managing course administration, learner assignments, content validation, attendance tracking, reporting, and system maintenance activities.
  • Experience developing and updating training content using Articulate Storyline and Articulate 360.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
  • Strong initiative, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent customer service and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong proficiency with online learning technologies and systems.
Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Training, Education, Science, Engineering, Business, or another relevant discipline, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience supporting the development, administration, and/or delivery of corporate training programs.
  • Experience with eLearning software such as Storyline, Camtasia, Vyond, or similar tools is required.
  • Experience administering or supporting an enterprise LMS is strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting compliance, ethics, corporate, or professional development training programs is preferred.
