About the Family
This is a relaxed, warm household that values kindness, patience, family, and a good sense of humor. Their home is comfortable and welcoming, with lots of natural light, laughter, and music.
Their 36-year-old adult son is an important part of their family and requires around-the-clock care due to profound disabilities. He receives approximately 40 hours per week of professional home health care, with his mother providing his remaining care.
This is not a caregiving position. The Family Assistant will not be responsible for his daily personal or medical care. The family would simply like the employee to learn how to assist with transferring him into his wheelchair in the event of an emergency. The home is equipped with a lift system, so no physical lifting or strain is required.
The family's Christian faith is an important part of their home and daily life. Candidates are not required to share the family's faith but should be comfortable working in a household where Christian values and traditions are openly expressed.
The family also has a professional cleaning team that comes every other week for deeper household cleaning. This position is intended to complement that service by helping with the family's regular day-to-day household needs.
Primary Responsibilities
- Light housekeeping and daily household upkeep
- Household laundry, including washing, drying, folding, and putting items away
- Prepare family-style evening meals while following dietary needs and restrictions
- Maintain an organized and tidy household
- Assist with household organization and special projects
- Keep the kitchen and common areas orderly
- Assist with seasonal and holiday decorating
- Provide occasional light assistance with flowerbeds and seasonal outdoor projects
- Assist with basic household administrative and office tasks as needed
- Learn the family's wheelchair lift system for emergency assistance only
- Provide general support to help reduce the family's day-to-day workload
- Assist with other reasonable household needs as they arise
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is patient, hardworking, flexible, and genuinely enjoys helping others. The family is looking for someone with a relaxed, easy-going personality who can comfortably become part of the rhythm of their household while also taking initiative and recognizing what needs to be done.
This could be an excellent opportunity for a mature student or someone seeking a flexible position with a private living arrangement, although candidates from all appropriate professional backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
The right candidate will be comfortable working independently, possess basic household and office skills, and be willing to learn the family's routines and preferences.
Requirements
- Previous experience with household responsibilities, family assistance, hospitality, or a related service-oriented role preferred
- Comfortable with laundry, light housekeeping, organization, and family-style meal preparation
- Basic computer and administrative skills
- Able to follow dietary instructions and household preferences
- Flexible and dependable with scheduling
- Patient, respectful, and easy-going
- Comfortable working in a household where Christian faith and traditions are an important part of family life
- Comfortable learning to operate a wheelchair lift system for emergency assistance
- Strong communication skills
- Professional, trustworthy, and respectful of the family's privacy
- Interest in a long-term position preferred
Private Living Accommodations
For a live-in candidate, the family provides a private, detached apartment located just behind the main residence.
The approximately 12' x 40' space includes a private bedroom with a queen-size bed, bathroom with step-in shower, and a combined kitchenette and living area. The kitchenette includes a full-size refrigerator, toaster oven, microwave, and coffee maker. The living area includes comfortable seating, a smart TV, and a strong Wi-Fi connection.
The apartment has its own central heating and air conditioning and provides a comfortable, private living space while still offering convenient access to the main residence.

Note:
A spouse or significant other is welcome to live in the apartment with chosen candidate.
