Job description

Associate Attorney – Litigation

Annapolis, Maryland | $100,000–$140,000 + Bonus | Excellent Partnership Track

Are you a litigator who wants to do more than research and draft motions?

Our client, a well-established and growing Annapolis law firm, is seeking a motivated Associate Attorney who is passionate about litigation and eager to take on meaningful responsibility early in their career.

Unlike many larger firms where young associates spend years supporting senior attorneys, this position offers the opportunity to work directly with experienced partners, manage your own cases, communicate directly with clients, and gain significant courtroom experience from the outset.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

  • Immediate hands-on litigation experience
  • Direct mentorship from experienced trial attorneys
  • Early client contact and case responsibility
  • Court appearances, hearings, depositions, and motion practice
  • Opportunity to develop expertise in commercial litigation, employment law, restrictive covenant litigation, and legal ethics
  • Collaborative firm culture with excellent long-term growth potential
  • Reasonable annual billable requirement of 1,600 hours
  • Performance bonus of 3% for every 50 billable hours above the annual minimum

Representative Matters Include

  • Commercial and business litigation
  • Employment disputes
  • Restrictive covenant and non-compete litigation
  • Temporary restraining orders and preliminary injunctions
  • Real estate litigation
  • Professional responsibility and attorney ethics matters
  • Appeals, mediation, and arbitration

What They're Looking For

The ideal candidate has approximately 1–2 years of litigation experience, although recently barred attorneys with exceptional academic credentials, strong writing skills, and a genuine passion for litigation will also be considered.

Successful candidates will possess:

  • J.D. and active Maryland Bar admission
  • Strong legal research and writing abilities
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Confidence, initiative, and sound judgment
  • A desire to take ownership of cases rather than simply support them
  • The ability to think independently and contribute strategically

The partners value attorneys who are intellectually curious, willing to respectfully challenge ideas when appropriate, and excited to develop into first-chair litigators.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary: $100,000–$140,000, commensurate with experience
  • Annual performance bonus
  • Comprehensive benefits package
  • Retirement plan
  • Professional development opportunities
  • Clear path for long-term advancement

If you're looking for a position where you'll receive exceptional mentorship, meaningful courtroom exposure, and the opportunity to grow into a well-rounded litigator, we'd welcome the opportunity to speak with you.
