Job description

Northbrook Public Library seeks a Technical Services Assistant Manager
Full-time: 35 hours/week
Schedule: M-F, normal business hours
About the Position
Are you a collaborative and detail-oriented individual who understands acquisitions and technical processing workflows? We're seeking an Assistant Manager to help lead our Technical Services Department with a focus on excellent communication skills, critical thinking, data analysis, and efficient workflows. In this supervisory role, you'll help oversee the materials workflow while supporting and guiding a dedicated team of staff.
Working under the supervision of the Technical Services Manager, you will be instrumental in training and coaching staff, managing day-to-day operations, and maintaining relations with vendors. You'll also take the lead in shaping workflows and contributing to the development of departmental goals and the library's strategic plan.
This position is ideal for someone with strong communication and critical thinking skills, who can adapt to the changing needs of the department and is dedicated to finding solutions that result in a positive patron experience. If you are a problem solver with experience in libraries and a passion for developing strong teams, we'd love to hear from you.
Qualifications and Experience
Requires 3-5 years of relevant library or supervisory experience; knowledge of integrated library systems, experience with Polaris Client is a plus; proficiency with Google Workspace, MS Office, and strengths in data analysis, communication, time management, problem solving, training, and working effectively in a diverse, service-focused environment.
