Part-Time Library Clerk (Courier)

The Gloucester County Library is seeking a motivated and dependable Part-Time Library Clerk (Courier) to join our team. The Part-Time Library Clerk (Courier) performs responsible delivery and mail service work by transporting books, library materials, mail, deposits, packages, boxes, messages, equipment or supplies, and performs other duties as assigned. Employee must exercise tact and courtesy in all communication with library patrons. Reports to Library Coordinator.

Job Highlights:

  • Prioritizes daily agenda, plans route, sorts materials, and loads vehicle.
  • Sorts, picks up, and distributes books, delivery boxes, documents, mail, inter-office messages and library deposits to the Treasurer's Office.
  • Transports equipment and supplies to various locations.
  • Maintains the appearance and cleanliness of the library vehicle, inspects vehicle regularly, cleans as necessary, and schedules routine maintenance through Facilities Maintenance as needed.
  • Assists in the moving and delivery of surplus materials.
  • Performs tasks at the circulation desks; checks library materials in and out; registers patrons for library cards; prepares books to be shelved; shelves books. Collects fines and fees.
  • Prepares carts for shelving and regularly shelves books and reads shelves.
  • Inventories stock of necessary supplies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Possession of a high school diploma/GED.
  • One (1) year of experience in a customer service environment and some knowledge of Library services.
  • Any equivalent combination education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Experience performing pick-up and delivery services, preferred.

Special Requirements:

  • Possession of a valid driver's license; possess and maintain a driving record that meets established Gloucester County Driving Standards.
  • Ability to travel among various library sites and community venues.
  • Pass a post-offer, pre-employment physical. Position subject to subsequent physical examinations to ensure incumbent meets physical job requirements.
