Job description

Copper River Data Solutions is hiring an Event Manager for the Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Program is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing Yellow Ribbon events that support Army Reserve Service members and their families throughout the deployment cycle. The Event Manager oversees all phases of pre-deployment event operations, ensuring successful delivery of resources, services, training, and support programs aligned with Department of Defense objectives. This role serves as the primary coordinator between military leadership, government agencies, vendors, hotels, presenters, community organizations, and participating families to ensure seamless event execution and high-quality attendee experiences. The Event Manager ensures events provide access to healthcare, employment, education, financial, legal, and resiliency resources designed to promote readiness and family well-being

This position requires frequent travel to event locations across the United States and may include evening and weekend work during event execution periods. The Event Manager must be comfortable working in dynamic environments while supporting Service members, military families, and senior government leadership.

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
  • Plan, organize, and manage Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Program events in the Northeast USA (CT, DC, NJ, NY, MA, MD, PA, VA)
  • Coordinate all event logistics, including venue sourcing, hotel accommodations, meeting space management, audiovisual support, catering, transportation, registration, and on-site operations.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, event timelines, staffing plans, risk mitigation plans, and operational checklists.
  • Collaborate with military leadership, Reserve Component representatives, government stakeholders, and community partners to ensure event objectives and compliance requirements are met.
  • Manage attendee registration processes and communications for Service members, family members, speakers, exhibitors, and vendors.
  • Coordinate resource providers and presenters offering services related to healthcare, employment assistance, education benefits, financial counseling, legal support, resiliency, and reintegration services.
  • Oversee on-site event execution, including setup, attendee support, issue resolution, vendor coordination, and post-event closeout activities.
  • Monitor budgets, approve invoices, track expenditures, and ensure events remain within contractual and program funding limits.
  • Ensure compliance with Department of Defense regulations, security requirements, travel policies, accessibility standards, and reporting requirements.
  • Prepare after-action reports, attendee feedback summaries, performance metrics, and recommendations for continuous program improvement.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with hotels, conference centers, military installations, and community organizations supporting Yellow Ribbon events.
  • Support virtual and hybrid event delivery platforms as required.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing large-scale conferences, government events, military support programs, or related event operations.
  • Experience supporting Department of Defense, military family programs, Reserve Component organizations, or federal government contracts preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of conference planning, logistics coordination, vendor management, and event budgeting.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent events and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with event registration systems, Microsoft Office Suite, virtual meeting platforms, and project management tools.
  • Ability to travel extensively in support of nationwide events.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) certification preferred.
  • Experience supporting military reintegration, resiliency, or family readiness programs.
  • Familiarity with DoD conference policies, DTS travel systems, and federal contracting environments.
  • Experience managing hybrid or virtual events.
