Job Summary Loudoun County Public Library (LCPL) is offering collaborative, detail-oriented candidates the opportunity to become a part-time Library Assistant at the Law Library in downtown Leesburg. The Library Assistant provides outstanding customer service in reference and circulation functions and assists customers - many of whom are attorneys and pro se litigants - in locating legal materials and using Westlaw and other online resources. The Library Assistant reports to the Law Library Manager and handles a variety of tasks necessary to maintain library operations, including collection maintenance.

The Library Assistant also plans and leads programs for a variety of audiences. The successful candidate will be a passionate, creative team player with excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills. They'll also possess strong multi-tasking, organizational and technology skills.

The Law Library is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday

Work schedules vary and may include evenings, weekends and holidays. (Location is subject to change based on operational needs) Loudoun County provides a language stipend for individuals who pass a language proficiency test. Hiring salary is commensurate with experience.

Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma; two (2) years of prior experience providing direct customer service to the public. Previous experience with public Law Library principles, policies and procedures is preferred. Experience with traditional and computer assisted legal research is also preferred.

Paralegal certificate is strongly preferred. Job Contingencies and Special Requirements Successful candidates will undergo background checks as required. Hold or obtain a Notary Public license within one (1) year of hire.
