Job description


Overview:
While Medford Public Schools library paraprofessionals are not instructional staff they are encouraged to
inspire a love of reading in students and staff while managing the collections, reading stories (K-5),
conducting reader's advisories (6-8), checking out books and assisting teachers during their scheduled
library times as well as providing level 1 technology services in their respective buildings.
Duties:








  • Oversee circulation of all library materials and equipment using the automated system
  • Create or follow existing class schedules for student library visits
  • Supervise library volunteer program
  • Monitor students in the library
  • Manage overdue notices and subsequent payments
  • Maintain a neat and organized library environment
  • Assist technology department with equipment management during mandatory statewide testing and provide level 1on-site troubleshooting for technical difficulties within the building in collaboration with the technology support specialists


Qualifications:

  • Some library experience, Bachelor's Degree preferred or Associate's Degree
  • Knowledge of computers, keyboarding, basic computer troubleshooting,
  • Attention to detail


Please note: Preference will be given to library assistants who are interested in working
towards certification as a Library Teacher, Library Technology Specialist, MLS, or related.

Full Time Benefit Eligible
