Job description

TITLE: LIBRARY CLERK  - Rickover
Job Focus:      To enhance student achievement with the management of the library/computer lab by providing typing,filing and facilitating duties.
Line of Supervision:    Responsible to and evaluated by the building Principal.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1.         Types purchase orders, book lists, catalog cards, and/or library software for card cataloguing etc., as requested by Principal.
2.         Organizes and maintains card catalog, and/or library software card cataloging, vertical file, magazine file, catalogs, etc., as directed by the Principal.
3.         Makes simple repairs to books, magazines and other materials stored in library.
4.         Inventories necessary supplies, forms or equipment, print and non-print materials used by the library. 
5.         Brings to the attention of the Principal, any needs or concerns relating to same, and with permission of the Principal, order repairs, replacements, or new additions.
6.         Under the supervision of the Principal, assist teachers and students with locating, checking out, or checking in of library materials.
7.         Records and maintains circulation records with library software and subscriptions as available.
8.         Processes all library mail and deliveries.
9.         Provides supervision under the authority of the teacher or principal for students using the library. Any difficulties that develop in providing normal supervision are to be brought to the attention of the teacher or Principal.
10.       Maintains the general appearance of the library.  (It is not expected that the library clerk should assume the function of a custodian in doing this, however, it is expected that the clerk would tend to normal tidying up of furniture and book shelves.)
11.       Assists with the development, creation, and construction of displays and bulletin boards, located within the library and glass hallway.
12.       Facilitates the classroom teacher/coordinator with activities in the computer labs and library.
13.       Guards the confidentiality of all information which may come through this office.                        
14.       Laminates material school wide on an as needed basis.
15.       Assists in the coordination of the annual Book Fair.
16.       Performs all other library related duties as requested by the district administrators.
Minimum Qualifications:
1.         High school diploma or its equivalent.
2.         Reasonable typing skills.
3.         Ability to file information in a logical sequence and with a high degree of  
            accuracy, so that if needed, it can be retrieved with speed and ease.
4.         Be willing to provide supervision to children.
5.         Working knowledge of computer software.
