Additional Description

Reporting to the Metadata and Digital Scholarship Services Manager, the Digital Scholarship Data Librarian works with Digital Scholarship staff and student employees to help faculty and students build competencies in digital scholarship tools and applications. The position manages the new Digital Scholarship Studio, piloting workshops and programming, and actively engaging with faculty to integrate digital scholarship technologies in their research and teaching. The Data Librarian will also provide expertise on best practices for data management to help with the research lifecycle and to meet grant and external funding requirements.

Additional Duties & Responsibilities for this Position

  • Coordinates the Digital Scholarship Studio, including scheduling coverage and working with DS staff to develop and promote events and programming

  • Monitors the Digital Projects network drive

  • Develops, runs, and assesses programming and consultation services related to data management, including tools and best practices

  • Works with stakeholders across the university in support of faculty research (ex., Sponsored Research and Research Computing)

Additional Skills

  • Skilled in data cleaning, analysis, and visualization

  • Familiarity with coding and scripting languages (ex., R or Python)

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Consults with researchers on digital scholarship projects, including guidance on best practices, workflows, scope, relevant methodologies and technologies
  • Assists scholars in managing research outputs, including organization and long-term preservation strategies
  • Advises researchers on options for publishing digital scholarship outputs in online repositories, open access journals, or other appropriate platforms
  • Partners with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate digital scholarship initiatives
  • Develops, teaches, and assesses workshops and programming in support of digital scholarship
  • Staffs the digital scholarship service point
  • Stays current on emerging trends in digital scholarship methodologies, technologies, and tools
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Education & Experience

  • MS/MLS from ALA-Accredited Institution, Master's degree in related field
  • 2 years of related experience
